Are There Different Types of Urine And Blood Tests? I have been suffering from heart palpitations for a few months now, and was advised to go to the hospital two weeks ago to have some tests done. I was tested for a number of things including thyroid and found that I have nothing serious. I also had blood and urine tests done and I was wandering if there are different types of tests that they do and whether they just test for individual things. Because they tested me for infection, I was wandering if they would be able to tell if I was pregnant from the tests because I have been experiencing other pregnancy symptoms including nausea, tiredness and dizziness. If anyone could give me any advice on this, it would be great, i'm just not 100% if I could be pregnant and they didn't realise because they were testing me for infection etc. Thankyou very much for your help.

Does the basic type blood test reveal enough to diagnose "good health"? I had some blood tests done. The doctor said I was "healthy" yet I have issues. One Dr says I have Fibromyalgia. Another says costochondritis. Another gastritis. They all give me pain pills. Nothing really relieves me, just causes more problems. Although the blood tests said "normal" enough, could there be something wrong not indicated but, say a high WBC count? Should I go for more testing or trust that fibro is the source of my ills?

Rather than pricking myself with a needle (which I would be happy to avoid if at all possible), could I wait until I'm menstruating and use menstrual blood for testing? Example of test: http://cgi.ebay.com/Blood-Typing-Test-Kit-EldonCard-Type-Quick-Easy-Testing-/200626045024?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb63e8060
Why wont they tell me my blood type? ive had two blood tests in the past (for anemia/thyroid etc problems) and i asked both times if they could tell me my blood type, and they always say no. why? surely i have a right to know my own blood type (seeing as it could save my life or anothers one day) and seeing as im the one who's getting stabbed, taking a little more for a type test isnt that much to ask and shouldnt i have the opportunity to ask for it? the only other ways i know of finding out is by getting pregnant (im only 17 so deffinately no), needing a blood transfusion (id rather not nearly die thanks) and through donating blood, but i cannot do that as i am prone to fainting after blood is taken from me ive looked at blood type calculators which show you which types you can possibly be by looking at your parents types, however i only know my mums (which is O+) and seeing as shes an O (which is universal) it doesnt help narrow it down what can i do to find out?

Has anyone had the blood test which tests the ANTI-MULLERIAN HORMONE? (Esp.relating to Polycystic Ovary Synd)? If anyone has please let me know as I had this test which I was referred to do by a private alternative therapy clinic (not my GP) which has come back saying that my results suggest that I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. However when informing my doctor of this (I am going to see her next week) she said she had never heard of that type of blood test and believed it wasnt the correct one to test for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome so wouldnt want to say yes or no to whether I did have it or not. Im now obviouslt totally worried and in limbo and dont know what to think . The POS symptoms I suffer from are: Terrible Skin (Spots etc), Weight gain (have to diet incredibly hard just to maintain), emotionally vulnerable (get upset easily) however my periods are pretty regular and not really heavy or anything. Im so worried now and really want to see if anyone had had or heard of the above type of test to see if it really is 'Crap' as the doctore described it!!???

Blood Type Test... ? I need to know what type blood I have but I'm very afraid of needles. Is there any way to get the blood besides being pricked with a needle on the finger? Like a cut or something? I know I sound silly but I'm really afraid of needles. Please don't say it doesn't hurt or it hardly hurts because it isn't the pain that scares me. I really dislike that something is puncturing my skin and going in my skin. I don't care about the pain at all... Even reading about getting shots or pricked makes me start to breath quickly and get scared. I know to find out I probably will have to be pricked with a needle. I must be in denial... I'm applying for this program thing to go to another country and it asks for my blood type on one of the sheets. I'm especially afraid of being pricked with a needle on the underside of my arms, legs, and on my hands...I don't know why...Even seeing needles in newspapers freaks me out...

first pregnancy blood tests? really need input please, most confusing thing ever? Okay, so I have had what I thought to be implantation at about 7DPO.. I am now 10DPO with very sore breasts, extreme fatigue and still lower pelvic area pressure.. not cramps. I had a app with my obgyn today for an appointment to discuss my endometriosis and further figure out why we havent concieved and if there is a problem etc. Were still early in the TTC game but since I have endo and see my OBGYN everything 3 months anyway she has been helping us. Anyway we discussed this month and my BBT keeps increasing as the days go by, and a few symptoms as well as the what could have been implantation. I also starting yesturday have been having very frequent urination, I thought I might have had a UTI so I asked her about that and tested it came up negative that theres no UTI. So we talked a lot and a bunch of things I kind of got lost with her saying, she wanted me to go to the hospital today, not tomorrow for bloodwork.. so I said okay and me and DH left the clinic and went straight to the hospital. Heres where it gets interesting: I go to the window give her my number and my sheat and wait to be checked in she looks at the sheat and gos "CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!!" DH and I stop look at eachother and are like HUH?? were not pregnant? or well we havent confirmed if we are or not.. she go's no your pregnant she has sent you for your first prenatal bloodwork these tests are routine we check all new pregnancies for these tests ( Blood type, HIV, Syphilis, progesterone, rubella, HCG count, not the yes or no one just the count) There were 7 tests total. So I explained to her that Im not pregnant as far as I know and she continued with no we don't test for these unless you are pregnant, this is a sheat that proves your confirmed pregnancy. She then asked me questions, is this my first pregnancy, have I ever aborted or miscarried, will I be keeping my OBGYN as my doctor through out the pregnancy, will I be delivering at the IWK (childrens hospital) and all these q's. Then when I went to leave she go's congratulations on your pregnancy, good luck :) ! now we are TOTALLY confused!!!! is it possible my OBGYN forgot to tell my im pregnant or maybe I missed it or is this nurse just totally whacky out of her mind and these are routine tests for all TTc'ers?? we arent getting our hopes up, as this was just SO wierd.. but now I can't stop questioning if im about to me a mommy or if this lady is just whacked out of her tree??? Anyone know if these are just routine ttc testing or could they mean im pregnant and their was some confusion somewhere?? Thank You so much!! PS- early into the appointment she suggested doing a HCG test next month? but On my way out the door she told me to make a appointment for the next possible appointment available to discuss the blood work results, unfortunatly thats not until june 21st!
Do you know what type of blood tests rqired by law in califronia inorder to get married..? in general how long/wait it takes to abtain a marriage licese in californa? why it tkaes more than other states?

Questions about blood tests? So I'm gonna get a blood test this weekend, and I wanted to know more about it before I actually got it. And I'm going to a doctor I know and love since I've known her since I was just an infant. Anyway are there certain types of blood tests? Here's an example, and I know it's off this is just completely random, that there's a blood test for, say, pregnancy then another for, um, aids? Idk those are the two that pop into my mind. Or do you get a blood test and it's all the same? Also how do you know everything? Like they tell you if you have good nutrition and good blood like do you get a letter a week later or what happens? Just tell me everything you know about a blood test please! Like how does it feel to get one! Thank and please no hate comments, and those examples were random, okay, I'm not pregnant and I don't have aids or anything. Thanks again! :)

Will blood tests show any kidney problems? About 2 weeks ago I went to the ER because I was suffereing from really bad head aches and light headedness. They saw that my pulse was raising when I stood up. My back was hurting as well which at the time i though was just back pain. They gave me all different types of blood tests to check for clots and other things and everything came back normal. About a week later my lower left back started hurting again on the sides. It was an achey pain that isn't too severe and hurts when I move mostly. About 2 days after that happened the area where my bladder is located began hurting and it seemed like I was going to the bathroom more then usualy and when I was done It felt like I still had to go. I was wondering if the blood tests I had taken would've shown any type of kidney problem I was having. I'm not to sure exactly what they were checking but they took like 5-6 tubes of blood. I dont have any other symptoms other then the back pain and strange urination patterns.
Wondering about blood types? agglutination? testing? ok so we did this lab activity at school for biology but i'm a little confused and i don't understand what my teacher was trying to explain to me when i asked her.... now: we took an unknown sample of "blood" (it was a synthetic-type of blood) and we put it in 2 wells on a spot plate..... then we put 2 drops of anti-A serum in the first one... and 2 drops of anti-B serum in the second one.... the first one (anti-A) agglutinated and the second one (anti-B)didn't this means that the unknown sample is type A blood... but i don't understand why :( i know that each blood type comes with it's own antibody ex. a-type= anti-b b-type= anti-a what i was thinking was that when the blood "agglutinates" it is attacking the opposite of what it is (so if the blood type was B and you added anti-A to it it would attack it) this is why i thought this blood type was B..... just don't get why it's A? can anyone help me out? did i interpret the "agglutinating" part wrong? Louise... not to be rude... but i'm in desperate need of some help... and that was not an answer!!!!! you can figure out ur blood type by testing ur blood (ask the doctor next time you go it is probably on your record/file) Rednate OMG THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH :D that helped A LOT :D i thought that the anti-A/B was just like adding A/B blood not the opposite of it :P THANK YOU :D
Does any types of blood test show pregnancy? pregnancy blood test - how does qualitative work? The doc did a pg blood test today. She said there were 2 different blood test types. One will simply give a yes / no answer. The other will give you the amount of hcg (?) in your blood. Do all women have a small amount of this? Or ONLY when pregnant? So if there is any amount (even slight) would that mean pregnancy? Or only if it rose to a certain amount (magic numberr)? I don't remember this type of test with my first pg, thanks I heard women usually have .5 (?) of hcg and levels above that COULD indicate pregnancy....any truth to that? How soon after coneption do the levels start to rise??

What types of drug tests are performed when you join a company? This is my first full-time job, in which I will be working at corporate headquarters. I just got my first hire kit and one of the forms included is a drug test release form. I have no problem with the purpose of the drug test as I have nothing to hide (I'm completely clean). I'm curious to know what drug test types are more common? Hair samples? Urine sample? Blood sample? I get nervous with people taking blood from me as I'm not very good with needles. I would like to prepare myself for it if a blood sample is commonly used. Thanks!

What type of blood tests does a gynecologist normally run? I am 22, slightly overweight, but otherwise healthy (I guess..). I went to the gynecologist for the first time last week because I had been missing periods and then when they came back I had one that lasted a month. Anyways... my pap came back normal and I tested negitive for stds, but the nurse said my blood work came back and all of my tests were abnormal. Is it possible for ALL of my tests to come back abnormal or is this a possible mistake in testing? Does anyone know what blood tests a gynecologist would most likely have done? The nurse said I needed to schedule an appointment to have more blood taken immediately and also scheduled an appointment to go over "treatment options." I really didn't know what she meant and I was in such a stupor I didn't think to ask any questions. Does anyone have any idea what this could be about... My mother has thyroid/hormone issues, could this possibly be about those? THANKS!

I went to get my 2nd blood test done today, because i have not reached menses since 08-08-08 (and everything keeps coming back negative, but they say to come in every two weeks unless you reach menses) and i asked them how they determine the results. If they use the quantitative method or what method they use. They told me Qual. i am not sure what the abbreviation means or anything. So if you know could any one could tell me while i sit here waiting for the phone call. so when they use the qualitative method, then they are looking for anything above a 5? or they are just looking for any?

What does this mean? "Your antenatal screening blood tests are normal." What did they test for? Was my 11week pregnancy blood test. Also tested was HIV, Syphilis, Blood type, urine and hepatitis, but those are all tested separately. I don't know that the antenatal screening test is for? Is it referring to the other tests (all normal) or is it referring to something else? Oh, with that test it also says "Prenatal Profile - Normal Immune". I'm confused if it is a Down's Syndrome etc. test, or just a repeat statement that I don't have AIDS, syphilis etc.?
how does the blood tests work ? how many blood types are there? how do specialists find who the parent is by blood testing? do blood matching make better parents?
Why do they not have blood types recorded on ones medical record at the dr. office? I need to know mine.? I called my drs. office and they said that unless you specifically ask for the blood type test, nobody has it listed. I thought that after having 2 babies and a surgery that it would have been checked in case problems arose during the procedures. They said that is not the case. I even looked on my birth certificate....it isn't there either. There isn't even a place for it....I was very surprised by all this! When giving blood do they tell you at the site what your blood type is?
How to get my blood type tested? I don't know my blood type, and neither do my parents. I was just wondering, where would I be able to get my blood type tested? I'm pretty sure I can't just walk into a hospital and get it done, so, what can I do? Thanks =)
Why do we produce antibodies related to blood type before exposure? I know blood types have to do with antigens on the blood cells and clotting with exposure to a different antibody. Normally you don't make antibodies to an antigen unless you have been exposed to the antigen before. Are blood typing antigens different somehow? Otherwise the blood typing test wouldn't work unless the person had been exposed before...
Do blood types really matter anymore? I read somewhere that people getting married would get a blood test done before the wedding, something to do with their future children. I don't know if this still goes on. But what was the reason for doing so? My mother is O pos and my father was B pos. I have B pos and my sister has O neg. We still don't know where the neg came from exactly. My husband doesn't know what his type is so we don't know our son's type either. I only know mine as I donate blood and found out that way. When my sister-in-law was pregnant with her son she had to have the shots because she has negative rh and her son has pos rh, this time she hasn't had to have the shots, I can't remember in which trimester she started with them last time. I had only heard of the blood tests before marriage and I assumed they were only being done in the US as I had never heard of it happening around here in Ontario. I just never knew what the blood tests were for and how they worked. I do understand blood donation stuff as I started donating as soon as I turned 18. So no I wasn't confused by it. But thank you for explaining it. My grandmother is o pos turned o neg after she had her children, none of us understand that one yet. My grandfather was A I believe but I don't know the rh factor. Really my son could be any type just from that I guess. My husband can't donate because of a medication he has to take so we don't know his type and we have no reason to find out Gabe's yet, that is until goddess forbid he ever needs a transfusion.
how can you find out what your dads blood type is without a test? I am curious to know what my dads blood type is. I know I am his because I look a lot like him. A blood test is out of the question. But I am want to know if there is way to find a internet generator where i type in my blood type and my moms type and where it would give possible types for him. Anyone who sends a direct link to a generator thing like that would get full points.
What blood types can give to each other? eg: A+ can give to B-???? i dont know if that is right but can you give me a lis please. plus is A positive very common and how do i find out about my blood type? im on the NHS in England and i need a blood test anyway can i ask them to tell me or will they have it on record at the doctors?
Can you buy an at home Blood Type Test at your local stores or can you only get them on line? My folks are both O+ so I know I must be O something. I just don't want to go to the doctor and pay too much for the test. Plus I freak out with needles, I know cuz I tried to go to a Blood Donation Center. I thought an at home test would be good. My husband is A- so I am worried about having kids.
are there specific types of thryoid test's that are done, besides just a regular blood test? My family doctor just wrote an order up for a "general" thyroid blood test. but I went to a specialist and his orders were for a blood test, testing T3 and T4, for malaise and fatigue, and a few other things. so is one more specific than the other?

what types of things are checked in a blood test? Just wondering what they would check for in a standard 'check up' blood test or a blood test where you have been sick prior to going to the doctor's office? Besides looking at red and white cell numbers do they automatically check for infections, diseases, STD's, weaknesses in the body etc, or do you have to ask your doctor to have them check all these things before the test? Thanks! Thanks everyone, I got the answers I needed!
How early can I know baby's blood type? I am pregnant, I want to know my baby's blood type as early as possible. Can I find it out before the baby is born? I am going to deliver at Kaiser Permanente hospital, do they automatically do a blood type test when the baby is born?

How much blood? how much blood do you need to do an ABO blood type test? and how long con the blood last in a syringe before you cant test it? i'm doing blood testing in A&P lab on wednesday. i know my own blood type already and would like to check my husband and daughters. thanks in advance! i'll try the ice/baggy thing and ABO blood typing is when you determine whether you are type A, type B, type AB, or Type O. it is important when giving or recieving a blood transfusion. ok orinoco i know where you are going with that but it is nothing fishy. i know that i am O+, everyone else in my family is O as well, my husband has no idea what his blood type is(which baffles me) and for my own curiosity i would like to know my childerns and husbands blood type, i know that i could give blood for them if they ever needed it. rather than from a stranger. we are doing blood typing in A&P lab, i just was unfamiliar with how much blood was used. i know we will not be drawing blood most likely a D stick

Why have there been no aptitude, IQ, test comparing performance of different Blood Types? Race is a subjective socio-economic construct, based in a mental illness to distract Humans from being Humans. Providing the false concept of Superior and Inferior Humans. The dominant culture has promoted the erroneous concept of various races through many venues, psuedo-science in particular. All animals to the best of my knowledge have the same colour blood. Fish, lizards, birds, quadrupeds, and Humans have Red Blood. Non oxygenated blood is bluish-red, Oxygenated blood is a Bright red. Human Blood is carbon phyllic, it loves carbon, carbon monoxide, carbon di-oxide, alcohol, etc. Humans all have the same colour blood, but do not necessarily bleed the same blood. There are 4 basic blood classifications: O, A, B, & AB. There are 2 variations of these types Rh Positive & Rh Negative. Most people are Rh positive in any of the categories. The four bacic types are not restricted to the socio-economic limitting, primitve designations used for members of the Human family today
