blood chemistry tests? what do doctors check for in blood chemistry tests
In my blood chemistry test I had abnormal levels in my liver. What could this be from? I went to get tested for my thyroid, and luckily that was fine, but my doctor said she wants to test me for mono since my liver levels were abnormal. I know I do not have mono because I don't have any of the symptoms. What else could this mean?

Where can I find information on blood tests? Part of a presentation that I'm doing involves me writing about Chemistry's involvement in blood tests. I've looked all over the internet, and all I can find is information about what goes on during a blood test. Could anybody tell me in detail, or do they know where I could find information on what goes on in the lab, like what chemicals they add, colour changes they look for, and why the colour changes etc. Thanks (:
My blood test results were an abnormal MPC blood chemistry and an abnormal CBC blood count. What does it mean? I got a physical at the doctors and had a blood test done. Everything was normal except for my blood chemistry and blood count. I'm a little worried about what the problem with me is and was wondering if anyone had a general idea of what these terms mean or represent. Any help would be great. Thank you.
Help with Blood test results - blood chemistry/cholesterol, etc? I just got some blood test results back in the mail and had 4 "abnormal" scores. I have an appointment with my doctor on the 7th of August, but I'm a little nervous about the results and was wondering if anyone on here could give me any insight. My thyroid function was abnormal. I'm not too shocked about this because I've had hypothyroidism in the past, but since I had my son, five years ago, it's been back to normal (though it was last tested two years ago). My "Blood Chemistry" was listed as abnormal. What could this mean? My cholesterol was abnormal. LDL is 118 and HDL is 41. I thought the LDL was ok, if not good, but I'm concerned about the HDL. And my triglycerides are abnormal at 177. I am overweight, so I expected these to not be optimal, but how bad are they? Oh, and it said HgA1c is normal, but I have no idea what that is or what it measures. Anyone have any idea? The blood chemistry thing has me worried, too. I guess because I don't know what it could indicate. If it was something really abnormal or serious, the doctor would have called, right?
What is the name of the doctor/pharmacist that does blood tests?? and does it need physics for university? What is the name of the doctor that does blood tests?? Some people told me I don't need physics but what do you think?? Thanks for your help:) the doctor who does blood tests and many other tests ....
Do herbal medicines affect blood tests and hiv testing? Do herbal medicines affect the body's overall chemistry so much that they could yield faulty results when a doctor or clinician performs a blood test and an hiv test? Do Chinese medicines or other herbal medicines interfere with or deter a proper, accurate blood test or hiv test?
My blood pressure in right arm measures 140/90 but in the left arm it's 130/80? Is it bad? I've done blood chemistry 8 test and evrything is normal except cholesterol of 208.
Should we be concerned about HIV being detected from normal blood tests CBC and blood Chem? I had a scare about two years ago in which I got a phone call from a guy that I had sex with. We used a condom for the intercouse and then took it off. We then revisited intercourse and did't use one. However, it was only a few minutes. The person didn't ejaculate inside me we finished off on our own. Three months later I get a call from him saying he was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. I paniced and went to an emergency care where I got tested for HIV exclusively. After the long wait I was negative. All the research I saw stated about 95-98% of the time after negative within 3 months there is a very small chance of anything further. I didn't pursue further. However, I've been with my current partner for about a year and a couple of times we haven't used protection. He just went in for a CBC and Blood Chemistry panel with his doctor. He scheduled to go in the 18th for the follow-up but received a phone call to come in earlier. Do you think that there is a liklihood that they found issues to want to do an HIV test on him? Would they call him in earlier for Diabetes or high cholesterol. Or do you think my fear is more valid. I sat with him and we discussed what took place, but, the waiting game is always the hardest. (I thank you for your non-judgemental responses)
do i need a level biology to study chemistry? so i wanna study pure chemistry like the ones that do the blood tests etc or chemistry research. do i need biology qualification to get accepted in a university? can someone also tell me what subjects id need, well chemistry obviously and..?

i have brain cancer but normal blood chemistry & CBC results? i was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia for almost a year now and undergoing monthly chemotherapy. doc said im nearing remission and have normal CBC results for a month now. but last month i experienced a month long head ache, so sever i thought i was dying. i had my CSF checked via lumbar puncture by another doctor. found out (+) to brain cancer with 28WBC (normal is 5-10), 99% lymphocytes, 1% segmenters. in short i have brain cancer so she gave me chemo via the same lumbar puncture( intrathecal, as she mentioned) what i am curious about is the fact that my CBC results are already a month long within normal range. and until the very moment i was hospitalized for severe headache CBC and blood chemistry(electrolytes, BUN, crea, etc) are all perfectly normal how come i was nearing remission, have normal labortory tests results, and yet (+) to brain cancer???? pls help me understain how come this happend and why is it possible? i am not in denial
What would cause sudden weight gain and fatigue? I'm a 55 year old Caucasian female and I'm putting on 1 to 2 pounds a week when my diet hasn't changed significantly. I also feel extremely fatigued. I can't stay awake past 7 PM, I sleep 5 to 6 hours and wake not feeling as if I slept at all. My doctor ran blood tests (CBC, chemistry and thyroid profiles), but the results were within normal ranges.
Why don't Psych Doctors run blood tests before prescribing meds? I understand that having blood level ran on Serotonin, Norepinephrine, Dopamine etc., would not diagnose the actually problem. Still, wouldn't it give them a better idea of where the patients levels were to begin with? For instance, there are some people that would have an abnormally high level of serotonin. People with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome frequently have higher levels than normal, yet they are frequently given SSRI's. You certainly wouldn't want to give them anything that would increase this level. But besides all that.....That's what Psychiatrists are dealing with. Brain chemistry. Why wouldn't it be standard practice just to run these tests, just like any other doctor would have labs done for any other illness? It makes ZERO sense to me!!!!!!! First of all, I am assuming nothing. If you read the question, I am simply asking why it wouldn't be common practice, just like any other doctor would run labs..very simple. Secondly, if you read the question, I stated that I am aware that a blood test would not show what the problem was. But it would give the doctor an idea of what the persons levels were to begin, which may in fact indicate another issue that should be addresses. So I guess what a few of you are saying is that the entire process is subjective. "Attempt" to treat the symptoms, not possibley cure the problem. There is absolutley NO objectivity with some of your responses. Trial and mostly error is the goal. This is exactly why so many people have issues with psychology. The errogance level to sit in front of someone who is desperately seeking medical attention, is very impressive. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for therapy. I just don't understand why there is very little "medical" testing involved.
Is it possible to be pregnant with negative blood tests 4 weeks after a missed period? My lmp was on Nov 17th, the only time I've had sex between then and now was the first weekend in December while I was visiting my fiance. We weren't using protection because A) I've always been told by my doctors that I would have a very hard time conceiving due to my unusually high androgen levels and altogether wonky internal chemistry, and B) even if I were to become pregnant the likelihood of it being anything other than a chemical pregnancy would be close to nothing. In fact, this has happened to me twice since I was 18, both times within the first two weeks of my missed period, but with the full shebang of symptoms like nausea, fatigue, breast tenderness, and an insanely increased sense of smell for those two weeks until a day or two after the miscarriage. So when my next period didn't start on the 12th like it was supposed to and the Chinese food place in the mall sent me running for a trash can I figured the same thing would probably happen again and didn't bother testing until my third week with no AF. I took two HPTs which both came back negative, then went a clinic and got another done a week later, still negative, and then a few days ago went to Planned Parenthood and got blood testing done, the results of which came back today, you guessed it, negative. Now I normally run pretty regularly these days (give or take a day or two) on the same cycle as my best friend who takes the pill and runs like absolute clockwork because of it. She started her period yesterday which means I should have too and I have not, and that makes this my second missed period if mother nature doesn't rear her ugly head soon. Except for a very stressful year when I was 19 I have not gone this long without a period since I first joined the ranks of womanhood and my periods hadn't regulated themselves yet, though if I'm not around a stable cycle like my friend's I may miss a week here or there every now and then as I sync up to whoever is around me most. I have been perfectly synced with my friend/housemate since April and I am not under any stress now, have not made any changes to my exercise or diet or daily routine in nearly 9 months, have not lost a large amount of weight very quickly, do not take drugs or any harmful medications (because I have strange reactions to synthesized chemicals of any sort), or any other of the numerous things that can cause a period or two to be missed EXCEPT have unprotected sex during a fertile time in my cycle. I'm also fairly certain I was ovulating that weekend because my pre-existing conditions require me to be very in-tune with my body to prevent the syncope episodes I suffer from and while they were not as pronounced as they usually are for me I did not experience anything like them in full force before or after that weekend. My breasts are sore and swelling, I am tired and dizzy all day long but can't seem to fall asleep, I throw up more food than I keep in my stomach most days (and the foods I crave and DO keep down are extremely unusual for me, we're talking foods I've hated my whole life here, and things like curry latkes with maple syrup), my body temperature has been a little higher than average for me, my mood has been all over the place and scaring the life out of my friends because I have trained myself to stay calm and rational throughout just about anything to help prevent my syncope episodes, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that three or four houses down someone is making fried chicken with too much oregano in the breading just from the faint scent that is coming through my barely cracked window. I understand that blood tests are supposed to be pretty definitive, but is it even possible that it could be a false negative this late even if it is just another chemical pregnancy or a miscarriage waiting to happen due to low HCG levels? I don't honestly expect any different from any pregnancy I may have, but it would be good to know all the same. I should also mention that both my mother (2 live births and 3 miscarriages), my aunts (1 live each, many miscarriages between them) and my grandmother (4 live and 2 miscarriages) have told me that they tested negative throughout all of their pregnancies, so I know I carry that particular strange and rare trait for HCG that doesn't bind well in addition to having genetic fertility issues, but I don't know if that includes blood testing or not. Any advice or information anyone can give me is very much appreciated. One other thing, I am sans medical insurance and a full time professional student so I don't exactly have an OB I can go to for more testing and probably couldn't afford to pay for a visit out of pocket in any case. If that's my only option though I will find a way to do so.
Question about Dog Blood test.? I asked a question earlier about my dog throwing up. Someone said it could be kidney issues. We did a full blood chemistry on my dog last month would Kidney values show up in the blood test. I really do not have to money to afford all these tests. Oh ok so thats good we had to get like 3 blood chemisrtys due to his high liver enzymes but luckily the vet siad they are going down. Only symptom he has is ocasional vomiting. When we go to the vet again I am going to ask her to show us his recent blood work. We are feeding him dry food.

Here is the blood test that they did They did a CVC test see if my blood was thick - it was normal They did a glucose test - normal They did a test to see if was drinking enough - normal they did a chemistry test - normal white blood count - normal
How do blood sugar tests work, scientifically? I'm not sure if this should be in science - chemistry or health - medicine. All my searches keep taking me to insurance companies and doctors offices. I was hoping someone can help me locate information, I'm looking for specifics here. I know blood sugar monitoring usually involves a test strip coated with a reagent. This reagent changes colors in reaction to contact with glucose and the machine just evaluates the color of the paper and converts that color in to a number. I think.... My questions are: what is the most common reagent, what will it react to (glucose, sucrose, any other polysacharides?). How sensitive is it? How do the new machines that don't use test strips work? Could I in theory test pop with a home blood sugar monitor? What would happen if I tested coke vs. pepsi. Would I be able to tell which is more sugary? Obviously the number wouldn't be anything but if one has a higher number would at least be an indication right?
A blood test doesn't indicate lymphoma, but would anything on it be abnormal? And by blood test, I don't mean just a complete blood count, I also mean a blood chemistry panel (glucose, liver and kidney function). Everything I had done came back normal. Also, I know an abnormal urine test may indicate the possibility of multiple myeloma, would it do the same for lymphoma? (My urine test was also normal) I ask this because I'm a hypochondriac and need some reassurance. Fever? No Itchiness? Here and there, nothing crazy Weight loss? Actually, I gained 4 lbs and have kept it steady Night Sweats? Mild, infrequent, maybe once or twice a month. Usually more frequent during stress Fatigue? Yes, but I also just started Xanax and Celexa Lightheadedness? On and off, less frequent than before I'm also under a lot of stress and have derealization here and there (and it fucking sucks). Is derealization a symptom of any cancer?
weekly blood test :(? hi, so i have to get a blood test done once a week because of my anorexia. They test the usual things like glucose, liver function, electrolytes, phosphorus, urea, creatinine, amylase, bicarbonate etc. Well my question is whether its even important for me to have my bloods done every week. It wouldnt take 1 week for your blood chemistry to change would it? Im guessing that right now all my results are in the normal range because my doctor hasnt said anything so why do i have to have my bloods done weekly? Its just that every time i go, it takes the lady THREE tries to get the needle into my vein and she keeps moving it to try and find my vein, its really painful and i dont want to do it if its not necessary. So is it possible for your blood chhemistry to change in 1 week if your vomiting over 3 times a day and restricting? Thanks :)
Other than blood, name the different specimens used in chemistry assays.? Give examples of tests that can be done on these specimens. Please and thank you. (: Ps. This is a Clinical Chemistry subject.

Does the ECA(ephedrine,Caffeine,Aspirin)Stack have any impact on blood glucose or HBA1C results? I was taking an ECA stack recently while I was training to get back into shape for Rugby after a 6 month lay off due to a knee injury. I had a routine fasting blood test which showed that my glucose level was 12(should be 4-6 for a fasting sample). I know that this signals Diabetes but I am otherwise fit and healthy, with no other symptoms whatsoever. I am 6'5'' inches tall and weigh @17 stone but due to my frame and the level of sport I play I don't carry much fat. My question is could the ECA stack have affected my blood chemistry in such a way as to cause this result?
Why need to preserve glucose? Glycolysis? for blood chemistry tests
is this right for a vet to not give me or know my dogs blood test results? I went to a vet a week ago and got my 2 dogs both full chemistry blood panal for $150 each, and a heartworm blood test for $30 each. I called today and I wanted to know the kidney values because I feed a raw food diet and was curious. I also wanted to make sure one of my dogs with some phobias was all healthy. The vet said she never got my blood results and doesn't know what happened but told me not to worry because if something was wrong then she's sure she'd have been informed. Well no. I want to be sure and I want to know the test results. Is this normal??? I paid for this and I want to know for sure my dogs blood work is ok. I want the vet to look see it and tell me or if not that, then I at least want to see the test results myself. she said she had asked for the results but they were never sent to her and in her words the lab "dodged her" when she asked again. Thanks all. I will go there in person and ask for a copy of the results. Because I raw feed and stopped giving heartworm pills when it was winter, I really want to be sure of the test results. Nikko I'm so sorry what happened to you. That's awful. Why is it so hard to find a decent vet??
I recently lost 25 pounds without even trying? I went to the doctor and had blood tests. CBC was normal. Chemistry panel was normal. Cholersterol - 122. Triglycerides - 37. HDL - 37. LDL 71. I am very concerned about the low LDL level. Any idea what it could mean? Sugar is part of the chemistry panel and it was normal. Also, my vitamin b12 level and vitamin d level is abnormally low.
Help Medical term dont know what it means? I took a blood test and in my Chemistry test i got Triglyderides high it went from 257(A) to 331(A) that was a month difference what does it mean? and what should i not eat to reduce it and also to reduce cholesterol
Gaps/ errors in the Theory of evolution? I saw this on a website. What does everyone feels about it? I believe in the theory of evolution, but reading this has raised some questions in my mind. “Many evolutionists have tried to argue that humans are 99% similar chemically to apes and blood precipitation tests do indicate that the chimpanzee is people’s closest relative. Yet regarding this we must observe the following: ‘Milk chemistry indicates that the donkey is man’s closest relative.’ ‘Cholesterol level tests indicate that the garter snake is man’s closest relative.’ ‘Tear enzyme chemistry indicates that the chicken is man’s closest relative.’ ‘On the basis of another type of blood chemistry test, the butter bean is man’s closest relative
What is the process of blood glucose testing? I know that a needle needs to be inserted, etc., I need the chemistry aspect of it. What exactly is done to determine how much glucose there is and such? As much detail as possible please!!!
HELP!! Pet vet question!!!? My grandpa has stage 1 Alzheimer's, so he is very forgetful. While my family was on vacation, he forget where his vet was and went to a different one because his dog was shaking and he was scared. They charged him $432!!!!! They had him get tons of food (unecessary), like 4 different medications, etc... The dog was given a vaccine for Parvo Vorus, Corona Virus, Rabies (which she has ALREADY HAD!), Feline Leukemia (she is a DOG), Chlamydia Vaccine, Feline Distemper. Also, Blood Count and Blood Chemistry tests. I think they just scammed my grandpa. It's not like she was vomiting blood or something. She was shaking!!! And it was during a storm, so my grandpa forgets that she gets scared. A vet should KNOW these things, yet, they charged him $432 for something as little as shaking. This seems pretty fishy to me...what do you think I should do??? For you people who are criticising my family for going on vacation, shame on you. We have been caring for my grandpa 24/7 for years while his other 2 daughters do not help AT ALL. My dad has been so stressed out, the doctors TOLD him to go on vacation. We called my grandpa multiple times a day and checked in. He just so happened to go to the vet w/o calling us and letting us know, so we had no idea. As far as his driving, he is a great driver. He just gets lost easily, so we bought him a GPS tracking system so it tells him how to get home. The problem is getting where he needs to go. We asked him not to leave the city, though, so he doesn't travel far distances. So he is DEFINITELY cared for well by our family. In fact, he lives 2 minutes away from us. But we all have jobs and we can't be with him every minute of every day. We are looking in to a live-in nurse...that would help a lot. But for now, we have to make do with what he have....

What tests are necessary for my cat that is urinating in the hallway? I took my cat into the vet this evening because she is urinating in our hall, which is on the way into the bathroom where her litter box is located. She does not do it all the time, but enough were I want to fix it because it is ruining our carpet. She is 8 years old, so I thought mabye diabetes was a good candidate for the culprit, so i wanted to take her to the vet to have her urine analyzed. The doctor tried to get some urine out of her, but was unsuccessful, so they had to keep her overnight. The doctor then offered me a "deal" they ahve for senior cats. The test checks the liver, kidney's, urine, ecg, cbc, super chemistry blood work, and thyroid test for 170. For just the urine test, it would be 85 (both of these prices include exam fees, etc.). Is this worth it. My cat is perfectly healthy except for the urinating on the carpet, do i really need to spend this extra money for this, or will the urine test tell me everything that i need to know for this problem? I need to let the doc know in the morning if i want to go through with the other tests other then the urine test, so your timely advice is appreciated! Thanks!
How to labs test for iron levels in blood? All I can find is the patient view point? For my chemistry homework I need to know the experiment that is carried out to test iron levels in blood! It's a in-tube test, if that helps? Thank you! x Er, why exactly does that make me a '*****'?!
What does a 66.00% protein mean when the "Usual Clinical Range" is 0.00-30.00% in diabetes? Hubby had Flex blood chemistry test and this was the result on his protein percentage.
My lymphocyte count has dropped to 0.8 . Is that good or bad? I have an autoimmune condition. My liver function tests and blood chemistry are completely normal
is rare occurence of chest pains just normal? i am 23 years old and was referred by my doctor to undergo echocardiogram next week. All my other lab tests including blood chemistry had normal results. So maybe the echocardiogram result will be normal, too. I really don't want to undergo that lab test.

what is the cure for missed beats? I get frequent missed beats (palpitations) . I hav had a thorough medical check up (Stress test, echo cardio, enzymes, blood chemistry, Holter (Which shows monomorphic unifocal PVC's) which is all normal. Doctors have said these are benign. However sometimes I get more than 6 Miss beats per minute, which is very annoying and makes it difficult to concentrate on work. This has made my quality of life very poor. I do not smoke, drink neither take coffee or other caffiene. My BP is mostly normal. I am a 52 Year Old Male. Please suggest any alternate treatment.
If I get blood tested for Marijuana and Alcohol, will they find Ecstasy? I got drug tested after an arrest and was taken to the hospital for blood testing for Marijuana and Alcohol. Will they simply test for just those two, and only see if that is in my system? Or will it be an overall test of what is in my blood, and will they find Ecstasy in my blood? I asked a chemistry teacher from high school and they said no that it will only let them know if Marijuana or Alcohol is in my blood if that is what they are testing for. I was told they need to test for each specific drug. If anyone knows will you please let me know. Thank you.
Concerned why my dog couldnt walk?!? Around one a.m. this morning me and my one year old yorkie woke up from a nap. I noticed he was shaking and couldnt walk. Tried but when he did, it was like he was walking for the first time. He was rly wobbly and gave up and just collapsed. Before I noticed this, I went to go put him down on the ground and he just collapsed and started to shake a little. I hurried to my parents freaking out because hes def my everything and I was so scared something was wrong. Me and my dad hurried and took him to the vet ER and they ran numerous tests on him like blood tests and overall chemistry tests ect. NOTHING! Said it would be a waste to do an exray bc he did the overall body exam and said nothing seemed wrong with his bones bc he would yelp if something was to be broken. He didnt show n e signs of being injured in that type. Just looked weak. Anyways, they couldnt give me an answer bc they never seen n e thing like this. Poor thing. They gave him an injection for discomfort thinking maybe he pinched a nerve or something. He is fine now. He was able to start walking this morning but it scared me so much to why he would start acting like this all of a sudden. Anyone please help me!! Thanks Brook for your response. I really appreciate it. I guess I forgot to put in there that they checked his heart rate and they said it was normal. Everything was normal for a very healthy dog but they dont know why this would happen to him. He was helpless and I felt helpless bc I didnt have an answer :(

Stinky Urine, Is it a Problem? I am a CHF patient and I take: Zeta, Toprol, Digoxin, Lasix, Potassium, Plavix, Warfin, Altace, Zetia, Nisban with a nice little Nitro Patch just to keep me on my toes. I get regular blood tests where they check for liver problems etc. Most of the time my urine stinks to high heaven and is sometime very dark. I'm talking bad and strong. Blood chemistry comes out OK. Do I need to be concerned about it? Appreciate the inputs. I'm on minimal fluids (4 cups a day) and Nispan is some kind of time release B vitamin.
What is B-hCG? I just got my chemistry blood test back from the hospital and it said I had a weak positive for B-hCG. I have looked through the internet trying to figure out what B-hCG is. I know hCG is a pregnancy hormone. Is B-hCG a pregnancy hormone too? Could I be pregnant?
Donating Blood: Passing Out? I'm 17 years old, and gave blood at my school for the first time today. I ate breakfast (a real breakfast, not just a banana), drank a little water throughout the day, and waited for my scheduled time to come up. I scheduled to have my blood taken during an easy English period right before lunch so I could take a Chemistry test before I used up blood. I went there, had it taken, drank a little orange juice, and was fine. I didn't just "feel" fine; I was fine. A little cold, and that was it. I missed the class, but exited just after the bell rang to go to lunch. I did so, chatted and joked with friends for about ten to fifteen minutes, and ate half of my sandwich. My friend said that she looked at me one second and I was fine. She looked at me a few seconds later and I was sheet white. I don't pass out easily. I've only come close to it once, and that's when I was a kid. While I admit I did jump the gun and leave the donation area a bit quickly, I was fine for about fifteen minutes before my vision went dark. Even if I had waited, it wouldn't have helped. I didn't even have a problem standing up fast when I got up. I heard that something similiar happened to a guy last year. He was perfectly fine, and had even given blood before. He ate lunch, and near the end of lunch he passed out asking if he could go to the nurse's office. My question for you medical gurus out there: Is it possible that when my stomach began digesting, it forced my bloodflow to focus on my stomach rather than my brain? I had been walking around, chatting and joking with friends for about fifteen minutes before it suddenly hit me. About ten minutes later, I was a bit shaken up but fine. I've stayed like that the rest of the day. A bit weak, but not a hint of dizziness. Perhaps it's just my pride, but I would like to know whether or not collapsing in the cafeteria in front of hundreds of peers was because I'm weak or simply because I mistimed it. Er.....Altace would lower my blood pressure. I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure that would've made things worse. Forgive me for my lack of trust, but I would like to know where a link goes before I blindly follow it.
why was an ischaemic forearm excericze refused by clinical chemistry? Hi there i suffer rhabdomyolyosis. i had a muscle biopy which was normal. However i still get pains in my legs and body. side effects/complications? If you take a lot of homeopathic supplemets (fromplaces like GNC/Vitamin Shop)-can they have negative effects- like on your liver (from metabolikzing them) and other blood tests (body function/body chemistry tests) I don't know the exact ones being used-but the person can't figure out why the readings are high/low- just wondering if I should suggest the supplements Informed answers appreciated As I said INFORMED answeres appreciated- IDK is not an answer-i wonder if it is the same perosn answering idk all over Answers- if idk-then don't answer! it's not cute As I said-i don't know what she takes-it's a lot of differnet things--I don't want to ask her and get her started nagging me that I should be taking this ans that.... i don't think she takes more than the label recommends-but she takes a lot of different ones...
People who suffer from Anxiety disorder and depression? do you ever feel "light" as if you don't have any energy in your body ? its not weakness, but something different. My legs and arms feel weak, sometimes heavy. I have been suffering from this since I had panic attack 4 months ago. I keep on saying to my doctor that maybe something neurologically is wrong with me but she keeps on saying its Anxiety. I had all heart tests and complete blood work including chemistry panel to check for deficiency and everything came out normal. Sometimes its like someone is pulling my body down and I will fall.
Is blood a heterogeneous or homogeneous mixture? Some people/books say that blood is heterogeneous while some argue that it is homogeneous. I can see why people see it differently, but if on a test (e.g., SAT II Chemistry) they asked if blood was heterogeneous or homogeneous, what would be the answer?
Excessive sweatiness!!!? I sweat a lot more than usual. I have had blood tests done and all my blood chemistry balances out. I get a lot warmer than the average person. For example, I can walk 10 blocks in cool weather and be drenched in sweat while my friends are barely sweaty at all. My dermatologist has me on glyccopyrolate 3mg a day to help, but it barely seems to do anything. Then again, she doesn't really seem to know what is wrong with me. (PS I even get really sweaty when I am talking to somebody new, even though I may not be nervous). Why do I get so sweaty so easily? Has anybody else had a problem like this? I am tired of being smelly and sweaty after walking only a short distance. Any suggestions? Um yea I am in pretty good shape seeing as how I do the elliptical 4-5 times a week, an hour each time (24-30 miles per week). Oh and no stupid/perverted answers please! This is actually a serious question...
my 16 month old kitten {not displaying any signs of illness was just diagnosed with fip, sample was clotted???? my 16 month old cat was taken to the vet because of an ear infection and was treated ,i ask the vet just for peace of mind to do a complete blood chemistry,2 days later he calls and tells me that my cat has{ fip} feline infectious peritonitis,my kitten was just vaccinated with his boosters 5 minutes before the chemistry test was performed,i have extensively researched this fatal disease and Zach displays NO signs so i called the vet and ask for a copy of his labs and found that due to extreme hemolysis {clotting }of the sample that alot of the tests were not able to be interpreted,i am wondering if anyone out there has any knowledge of fip and what next???i am extremely bothered by this and need to know ,ANY SUGGESTIONS ANYONE????????thanks Valerie
Why does glass taste like blood? The other day my friends dared me to eat an old test tube I had from one of my Chemistry sets (don't worry, it wasn't used!). I actually swallowed the whole things but I've been tasting blood now for the past week. Is this a bad thing or does glass always taste like this?
How do I do this chemistry problem? The general test for Type 2 diabetes is that blood sugar (glucose C6H12O6) should be below 120 mg per deciliter. How can i convert this to molarity?
Why Pacquiao and his team caused the fight to be cancelled? December 11: Freddie Roach: I have no problem with the testing whatsoever. They can do whatever (Keyword: Whatever) kind of drug testing that they want. December 14: Alex Ariza: I am the one in charge, I am the one responsible for what Manny takes. He has no idea what he takes. December 22: Early today Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, was contacted by Top Rank President Todd duBoef, who informed Schaefer that Pacquiao would not agree to have his blood taken within 30-days of the bout based on the fighter’s superstition of testing so close to a fight. Richard Schaefer: Todd told me that Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn’t want to do it so close to the fight. He, Pacquiao, would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off press conference and after the fight. In that same day, Freddie Roach: A urine test is just as qualified as a blood test. [Human growth hormone] is not detected by blood or urine.” How is HGH test done? More than one blood sample must be taken on different days, due to rapid changing levels of growth hormone. A test measuring IGF-1 levels may be taken in conjunction, as its levels change much slower. Before blood is drawn, the administering health professional should be informed of any disorders or medication being taken which can lead to bleeding at the site of the puncture. December 23: Bob Arum: Manny says that taking blood from him really weakens him. And he doesn't want to do it when he's in training, but he'll do it prior to going into training, and after the fight. Every major doctor will tell you that blood testing shows absolutely nothing. Freddie Roach: For the record, Pacquiao (Remember, he said Pacquiao) is willing to have his blood drawn before he starts training and after the fight to be tested for steroids and performance enhancing drugs. It’s not like Pacquiao is saying no to drugs. December 24: Arum: This kid has a phobia for getting his blood drawn. December 25: Manny Pacquiao plans to sue Floyd Mayweather, the American's father and Golden Boy Promotions in the next few days following a row over doping procedures, the Filipino world champion said in a statement on Friday. NYDailyNews. Tim Smith, This isn't some issue that just came about. It has been a part of the contract negotiations for weeks. According to a source familiar with the talks, Pacquiao's representatives asked what penalties Pacquiao would face if he tested dirty, and also if a dirty test result could be kept secret so that the integrity of the fight wouldn't be ruined in the public eye. December 26: Manny Pacquiao: I have offered to give a blood sample the day of the Announcement of the fight at the Press Release. I have Offered to give a blood sample 30 days before the fight. I am willing to give blood immediately after the fight is over inside my dressing room . I am also willing to give urine tests at anytime any where everyday leading up to the fight. The truth is taking blood out of my body does not seem natural to me and mentally I feel it will weaken me if blood is taken from me just days before the fight. December 28 Manny Pacquiao: I do not have anything to prove (to them) and hopefully, they would not succeed in destroying my image and the sport of boxing in the way they want it done. They want to dictate and step on the authority of the organizations including the Nevada State Athletic Commission. I am not guilty and I don’t have to prove anything because I have passed all tests in all my previous fights. I will all just see you in court. December 30: David Tyler interviews Freddie Roach. Freddie Roach: HGH cannot be detected by blood, saliva, or urine. The doctors I've talked to said that HGH and any growth harmone cannot be detected by any test. David Tyler: Fred, I have a graduate's degree in Biochemistry and 30 years experience in developing blood chemistry tests.....I'll leave it alone, let's move foward. Freddie Roach: No wait, you can't tell me that there is a test that can detect HGH or growth harmones. David Tyler: Fred, I'm not here to make you mad. Freddie Roach: I'm not mad, I'm telling you that you are wrong if you think there is a test for HGH. David Tyler: Ok Fred, so you are saying that HGH cannot be detected by a blood test? Freddie Roach: Absolutely, 100%, NO! Saliva, blood, or urine. So, I guess this was all Floyd Sr.'s fault right? I think not. Men Lie, Women Lie, Quotations don't.
What would have to happen naturally in the body for it to look like you cheated in sports/took pills? I noticed how the tour de france winner supposedly has too much testosterone, when tested. I know lots of sports test competitors for steroids, hormones, etc. Well, what sorts of things could happen in the body (as many as examples as you know) for an athlete to appear to have taken some sort of enhancement, but he didn't? In other words, if we have a superman type guy, who's way physically superior to the other guys, to most humans, how could his natural body chemistry make it appear that he is cheating, if he were blood tested? (the type of answers I'm looking for, for example: the body could naturally make unusual amounts of testosterone; the body's X levels would be off). Thanks so much. This is for a work of fiction, so you can give me examples of physical states that would be very unusual or impossible in the real world, as long as they are theoretically possible. http://sports.yahoo.com/sc/news?slug=ap-landis-doping&prov=ap&type=lgns

Which lab test requires blood drawn in a blue-topped tube? I know red is Chemistry and purple/lavender is CBC. I cannot remember what blue is.
been feeling sick for about 2 weeks now. what is it? Hi there, I've had this condition for about 2 weeks now. It started with a runny nose, then about 3 days later I got a sore throat which was not really bad and my lymph nodes got really swollen as well. I kept getting a runny nose in the morning and before going to sleep at night, at a day time it wasn't really bad. For these past 2 weeks I did not have any fever though. After about a week I went to a doctor and she prescribed an antibiotic which I've been taking for a week and today was the last day. Even though I still have a sore throat still and also this dry cough which started about 5 days ago. Also I noticed for the past 10 days or so I've been sweating a lot at night and it never happened to me before, not unless it was really hot. Also today I got a result of my blood test which was done at the time I went to a doctor and she said everything is normal except for my blood chemistry was too high which she said means I have a high vitamin concentration. What could be causing this and how do I improve this condition? I tried rinsing my mouth with a mixture of salt and warm water but it doesnt really seem to help
can i have heart disease? last february, i encountered acid reflux as what my doctors told me. i felt sudden shortness of breathe then afterwards it was a whole day of burping. i have my blood chemistry and results showed that i have a high trygylcerides 300 and cholesterol 209. i also underwent ultrasound and results showed that i have fatty liver and tiny polyps in my gallbladder. my doctor advised me to take a cholesterol reducer and sylimarin to aid my liver. i started doing exercises after that and eat healthy foods like fish, fruits and vegetables and also oats. after one month, i have another blood test and results were all ok (cholesterol is 109 and tryglyceride is 120) but my SGPT is still high 46 but it is much more pretty compared to my last test which was 64. i started running every morning with mix brisk walking and sometimes basketball afterwork. i feel better and light after i engaged in such activities, now my question is can i still develop heart disease with these activities?
Please help with my chemistry type work? I'm having a test on this Mrs. Roberts, in a diabetic coma, has just admitted to Noble Hospital. Her blood pH indicates that she is in severe acidosis, and measures are quickly instituted to bring her blood pH back within normal limits. (a) Define pH ad note the normal pH of blood. (b) Why is severe acidosis problematic? thanks
Here is my report.... is it normal? Hello guys, I was complaining about giddiness, tiredness and feeling thirsty,in the following post. http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsUKY4dwru52GzHBEAofKFKQHQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20090420073231AAq1hc5 Well I got my blood test done. Here are the report details: Hematology haemoglobin 11.6 gms/dl Bio-chemistry blood glucose - fasting 85 mg/dl Creatinine-serum 0.7 mg/dl Liver function tests total bilirubin 1.1 mgs/dl direct bilirubin 0.2 mgs/dl SGOT 32 IU/L SGPT 26 IU/L Alkaline Phosphate 129 IU?L total protien 6.9 gms/dl albumin 4.0 gms/dl globulin 3.0 gms/dl A/G ratio 2.0:1 Everything was within limit.Whats your opinion? Why is my Betta fish going from white to black? My Betta has been a white colored fish it's entire life. Nothing has changed in the tank that it is in, I do regular water changes, the water is heated, and I test water chemistry. I also feed it frozen blood worms and flake food. But as time goes by, more and more scales on the sides of the fish turn from white to black. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?????
AST/ALT Ratio ... Blood Test Results ? CHEMISTRIES: Glucose 85, Fructosamine 1.37, BUN 13, Creatine 1.03, Alkaline Phosphate 70, Total Bilirubin 0.36, SGOT(AST) 78 ...HIGH..., SGPT(ALT) 178 ...HIGH..., Total Protein 7.5, Albumin 5.1, Globulin 2.4 Can anyone comment on the AST/ALT Ratio and what it means?
Either Food Technology or Chemistry: Cooking Fats, what happens, mono, poly, saturated etc? I notice from experience and on surfing the web, the vast majority of mental illness comes from Saturated fatty acids, or trans fats, as well as junk foods loading these to the heck then adding sugar to fizzy drinks, there is some debate but it is largely believed stress is enduced from calcium and magnesium being leached, which is essential for the central nervous system. Also, folks I have met with say schizophrenia who have had a blood test done on vitamins and mineral content have found to have higher than normal levels of feritine, side reactions to bread, caffiene, and glutton. The question here being focussed now we know why, is I am uncertain what effects oils have on mood when consumed, but when cooking rather than on salads, say, what happens to: Canola Oil with its Omega 6 & 9 when cooked, and also burnt? Olive Oil with its Omega 3 content, when cooked and also burnt? Cooking Oil, corn oil, rice oil, safflower oils and also any others researched?
Protein in the urine... Is this a nephrotic syndrome? I have trace to 3+ albumin in the urine! The latest lab tests is 3+! I'm bothered with this result so I went to my Nephrologist and have checkup and some laboratoty works. My GFR, blood Crea, abd BUN were normal. Also, my liver and blood chemistry were normal. I was diagnosed to have 3.3mm kidney stone, high cholesterol and hypertension so I'm currently taking meds for that. My latest test say my BP and cholesterol went down and no edema BUT the protein in my urine still at 3+ ! I wonder what causes protein in my urine? Is this a Nephrotic Syndrome? It's almost 4 years since I knew I had protein in the urine but all blood and kidney tests were ok.
Hyperventilation and CBC levels (HGB, HCT)? I have a strong phobia of needles and therefore hyperventilate EVERY time I give blood. On occasion I also have full blown panic attacks. My CBC count is off and the many tests that have been run have shown normal results with no reason for the slightly off numbers. The numbers that are off are my HGB (16.4-high) and my HCT (47.4-high). I was tested for the JAK2 and that came out negative and I did a red blood cell mass test in which the numbers came out normal. My hematologist can't figure out the problem. Could the HGB and HCT be slightly off because I hyperventilate? I know that causes my CO2 levels to drop (they are low on the blood chemistry) which can cause O2 to drop, so wouldn't that affect the HGB because HGB carries O2? Thanks so much for your help!
Need chemistry help!? 1. A blood sugar test measures the amount of the sugar (C6H12O6) in your blood. Around 100. mg/100. mL of blood is considered normal. If the average 150 lb person has about 5.5L of blood in his body, how many moles of glucose should be present in his body? 2. I have to make 500.mL of a 4.54 M aqueous solution of CaCl2. How many grams of CaCl2 will I need? And, what concentrations of Cl- ions should I expect to have in my solution? (My answer must include a chemical equation to show the dissolving of CaCl2 in water. 3. After making this solution from above, I realize that I really need 450. mL of a 3.65 M CaCl2 solution. How much of my 4.54 M stock solution will I need? How much water will I need? Please help, this is the last homework assignment of the year!!

Veterinary Technician and chemistry? I am doing an assignment in Chemistry and one of the questions is "How is chemistry useful in the career you chose?" Obviously I chose Veterinary Technician as that is what I plan on studying in sept. I am just wondering what you all think would be added here? What i have so far is, using test strips and observing the color changes that occur when the urine react with the chemicals on the strip. Doing blood analysis. Giving medications. Any help on elaborating this as well would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance.
Does a medical physical generally include (see list)? First off, insurance usually covers physicals, right? Aside from a possible co-pay? Here's the list, if anyone knows if these are generally included, it'd be great to know. -Ova and parasite stool test -Cryptosporidium stool test -Stool culture: Salmonella, Shigella, Vibrio, Yersinia, Aeromonas, Staphylococcus aureus and Campylobacter -18 (approx.) panel blood chemistry hematology (CBC) -Tetanus vaccine -Tuberculosis test -Rubeola ("regular") measles vaccination (don't people get these shots when they are babies usually?) -Hepatitis B test To satisfy any possible curiousity out there, I'm getting a job working with animals that requires these tests so I don't transmit anything to them. If any of these aren't included in a standard physical, any tricky ideas on how I could get my insurance to pay for it? Thanks.

Lost most of my hair? After I had my second child; my hair started to fall heavily. I tried all treatments, chemicals, herbs, prescriptions and it kept falling. Now I’m having very thin hair in some areas like the front and back as if I will be bald. I’m tired and so frustrated. i spent a fortune on restoring my hair but nothing works. BTW: all lab tests are negative; nothing wrong with hormones or blood chemistry.
extreme fatigue? Have had extreme fatigue for 2 years, must take naps. Lost alot of hair (all over my head) last year. The hair regrowth is about 3 inches. This also happened 3 years ago. I am 48 years old. The doctor did tests for iron level, thyroid and basic blood chemistry last year and the levels were great. Then they did a sed rate because of my migraines and headaches, that was fine. Lately I am extremely hungry and am eating too many calories. I am not overweight. I weigh 138 and am 5 ft 4 inches.
