Can an employer issue a hair strand drug test instead of a urine test when testing for drugs when applying for? a job? How can they hold you accountable for something you did months or years before you even considered applying for this job? How can they test you for substances that you are no longer under the influence of and it isn't effecting you anymore? Why don't they just do a urine test which will tell you what drugs the person is on NOW, which is what is relevant. NOt what they did before they even knew they were going to be looking for employment here?

I will be working in the Federal Employee center, working with people who are federal employees that have insurance with the company. It is a government position. In the past I have smoked minimal amounts of marijuana and taken some muscle relaxers here and there... It has been quite some time since I have done this. I have heard that the longer your hair, the farther back they can test, (I have long hair) but how far back do they actually test for employment? HELP PLEASE! HAIR STRAND DRUG TEST? I have a hair strand drug test monday for a job I really want. He said it tests for the past 6 months and within the past 6 months I've only smoked twice, and then been around someone who was smoking another time (I kind of felt a buzz so I don't know if it would be considered smoking or not since it still went in my system). I didn't smoke a lot these times and the first time was in like February. The second time about a month ago and the "third" about 2 weeks ago. People who know about this sort of thing, since I am not a heavy user, would I pass or fail? If it matters, I've cut about 4 inches of my hair off about a month ago. So maybe the first time won't show up. My hair's really short so it's only like 2 or 3 inches long each layer. Also, when I did smoke, I did not smoke much. Maybe 5 or 6 hits. I smoked marijuana and I don't know what they're testing for. You're right it was stupid. Just please help me out by answering me :/

An Important Hair Strand/ Follicle drug test Question. Please Respond!? I recently posted the same question and have received plenty of great responses, but there were a lot of mixed responses, so heres my detailed situation. I am currently in the application process for a job that requires a hair drug test. I called them and told them that I shave my head and they told me that they will be collecting from my underarms. I haven't smoked or been around marijuana or any other drug for approximately 1yr and 5 months. Since then I have lost 15 pounds and became really active. I do not want a bad decision I made 1yr and 5mos. ago to affect my job process. What are the chances of my test showing up as a positive? and, How long does marijuana stay in underarm hairs and opposed head hair? Please respond to this question. Only for people who've had a hair drug test!? I've smoked pot about five times in the last three months, and I've had a job offer. But I've heard that the employer does hair strand testing. They use a person's hair to test, and it is said the test goes back to around a year. About 11-6 months ago I went through a hard (and careless) time. I smoked weed about 7 times during those 5 months. Each time, I probably only took 3-6 hits. I didn't smoke a whole joint or bowl. Last time I smoked was about 6 months ago. Are you subject to drug tests at your job? Why shouldn't the president be subject too? Even though many feel that drug testing is an invasion of privacy as long as we are subject to drug testing and it is allowed by law shouldn't the president, since it is the biggest most important job in America submit to a hair strand test? I drink about eight cups of water a day. I weigh about 95 pounds. I have taken Xanax and Benedryl in the past two days. You cannot test for Benedryl in a drug test. But you can test for Xanax. i am having a hair strand test that i need to pass i used recreationally in the last 6mths and just while out? i really need a way to pass this test my use is sporadic and only a little party drugs does anyone know a way i can pass this test bar shaving myself bald? i am in the uk and i dont have credit card to buy over the net neither what can i do?
Drug test question? I have to take a hair strand test, which is fine as I don't do drugs, However I did take a diazepam 2mg which was prescribed to me by my GP, Will this show up They say it's a 3 months test, but could they do it further back ??? Can you tell me more anyone ??

How do they drug test high school teachers? In 4-5 years I will be enrolling in a teacher's credential program. My intended program of choice is Health Science, I will be responsible for promoting safe sex and saying no to drugs. However, within the past few years I have used marijuana. I don't plan on using it ever again but I'm concerned that it is in my HAIR. Does anyone know if they do a strand test on all teachers? Please save your comment if you feel I am not cut out to be a teacher because I have used marijuana. It actually makes me MORE fit to deal with these issues because I have witnessed drug use and unplanned pregnancy first hand, which is why I feel strongly about these causes in the first place. I am only asking to see if I need to cut my hair at some point to avoid a positive reading. Going to let the voters have this one because they were all good answers. Just to clarify- I would never be completely candid with my students, thats just asking for trouble. I just meant I have a stronger urge to keep people OFF of it because of first hand experience.
is it right for companies hiring to use drug tests that detect drugs farther than a year in your system? My brother has recently quit smoking marijuana and he's seeking a better paying job he hasnt touched,been around or smoked in over one month,yet he has failed 3 drug tests due to hair tests inwhich they they take 100 strands of your hair and send it to be tested. Apparently the hair testing goes back up to like 6 months and some tests even 7 years or so the lady at the doctors office told him,this is ridiculous for someone trying to get away from that life,just because you fail some test they don't think you are reliable and don't even give you an opportunity to show them what you can do.What are your thoughts on drug testing that far back? I could under stand up to 3 months but 6 months to 7 years? is absurd .its almost like a violation of rights what do you think about drug testing in america? How far do you think they should go back?
