Ok, so i got pulled over last night. police man said he could smell alcohol so breathalyzed me. it came up 40 on the screen an fail( limit is 35 but i think they let u off if its under 40). but the guy told me that by the time i get to the police station an blow on the police machine, it should be below 40. (also in the mean time he said he can smell cannabis on me so ive handed over a baggy with 1 little bud in it, so chances are, he knows i smoke). got to the police station. wait in for about an hour an we gone in to the room. i could still taste the whiskey in my mouth so asked if i could have a drink but the police man said i weren't allowed. when i blew the machine its came up 'mouth alcohol'. so he said i gotta do a blood test. which i gave consent. so basically what i want to know is, will they test for any thin else except drink? because i think i had half a beer an 2 small shots of whiskey in about the space of 5-6 hours so think i may be ok about the drink but i do smoke bud quite regualy so just wanted 2 know if they would prosecute 4 that (and even look 4 it?) A friend of mine was just in a bad car accident she was hit head on by a drunk driver. She taken to the hospital in an ambulance and the other driver refused treatment. He blew 2 times over the limit and was arrested. They asked my friend one time if she had been drinking and she replied no. She was unconscious for a bit but as soon she was in the ambulance she was able to tell them exactly what happened. They asked questions about her family everybody's birthdays, social security numbers, they even couldn't find her ID but she told them where it was and told them the address was an old one and gave them her new one. At the hospital she was still wide awake able to talk with everyone, answered all questions. She had 2 broken ribs and a collapsed lung but will live. She was by herself when the crash happened. But she told another friend that at 9pm she had a few drinks but slept it off until 3am and then within a half hour of getting in her car the crash happened. They already investgated the accident the other driver when left of center and could see my friends brakes and not the other drivers because he didnt brake. Well Im not sure if she drank or not because none of the cops been notified by the ambulance people or the hospital when they all took blood, but Im not sure if they even check if she had alcohol in her system. Im not sure in ohio if they check when she said she didnt drink and was very helpful and awake. It's been almost a week and nobody has contacted her or anything Im pretty sure shes worried. I wonder if the doctor or hospital would have even told her if there was alcohol in her system, like if they had someone talk to her like a consuelor or even the police to let them know..what do you think? Another question ... is this handled the same way in all of the states in USA? Forget the part in my question about "blood tests". I meant "breth" test, or what ever it might be called. I am surprised no. ONE of the answers so far claims that it is against the constitution to stop cars without signs of drunk driving or other unlawful behavior.

A friend had a blood test that showed blood alcohol of 175? The nurse mentioned 1 to 10 was normal. But I've only ever seen BAC that was given in percentages, like for DUI. Does anyone know what the 175 means?
if u hve been bnned frm driving 4 DD does gp test blood only 4 alcohol when he puts u thru medical when ban up my brother was banned from driving through being unfit due to consuming to much alcohol 4 years ago. His ban is now served and when applying for license back was told he had to sit a medical by a DVLA approved Dr. Part of this medical involves submitting a blood and urine sample for screening. He reckons the blood and urine will be screened only for alcohol to determine if his blood alcohol levels suggest to dvla that he is still dinking too much and could be liable to re comit.. Or reassure the powers that be,that his drinking appears under control and therefore he seems less likely to recomit..I am sure th Dr has the blood samples screened for all illegal substances regardless of the fact that alcohol was the reason for driving ban at the outset. Can anyone confirm what is correct.
would a blood test find alcohol in your system after not drinking since New years night? ...after not drinking for almost a year before that?
