Blood Drug Testing

Is there a difference between an at home drug test kit and the pee test they do at clinics?

Public Comments

  1. Not really. They may be made by different manufacturers, but the outcome will be the same.
  2. Not too much, the only difference is that at a lab they can prob test more selectively, specifically, and for more drugs.
  3. Home drug tests only screen for certain drugs. There may be a few different ones to choose from at the store. A drug screen done in a doctors office, is not normally done with urine. Depending on who is initiating the drug screen, the test can consist of hair follicle or blood tests. Hair follicle show up to 6 months drug use, I believe, and blood is up to 3 months. Urine is the easiest type of test to pass, but only if your not using your own urine. If you have it in your system, it will be found, whether its codeine or cocaine, thc, or opiates.
  4. Home test kits are only test for certain drugs and it will tell you on the box. Drug tests at clinics will test either 5 or 8 pannel (if it is pre employment) which will test for many different types for drugs which may include: Alcohol Amphetamines (speed, eve, Biphetamine, Desoxyn, Dexedrine, etc.) Cannabinoids (marijuana, hashish, hash, hash oil, pot) Cocaine Phencyclidine ( PCP, angel, dust, hog, etc.) Hallucinogens (LSD, Acid, mushrooms, shrooms, etc.) Methaqualone (Quaaludes, ludes, etc.) Opiates (heroin, codeine, morphine, opium, Dover’s powder, paregoric, parepectolin, etc.) Barbiturates (phenobarbital, butabarbital, secobarbital, tuinal, amytal, etc.) Benzodiazepine (Librium, Valium, Ativan, Azene, Clonopin, Dalmone, Diozepam, Halcion, Poxioam, Restoril, Serax, transene, Vetron, Xanax, etc.) Synthetic narcotics, including methadone (dolophine, methadose, etc.) Designer drugs (ecstasy, etc.)
