Blood Drug Testing

How does a nicotine saliva test work for insurance purposes?

I have never been a 'smoker', more of a social smoker when I am drinking with friends. I went in to change my life insurance policy to non-smoker and decided to quit the silly habit of smoking sometimes when I drink. The insurance company phoned me and told me they now require a saliva test. I believe I had a cigarette a month ago when I was out. Will this show up? How does this work? I told them I didn't smoke.. I want to know if I can safely go in and do this saliva test or should I wait a certan amount of time. Otherwise, I really don't know what to do!!

  1. I don't know all of the details, but I know that nictine can stay in your blood for a while. However, one a month ago? Surely that won't show... I cant imagine it's worse than if you went to smoky nightclub every night... Good luck!
