I was drug tested in Phoenix by T.A.S.C. and showed positive for Meth. How can I dispute their findings?
I submitted a urine sample at T.A.S.C. in Phoenix, AZ and resulted positive for Meth. The court has used that result and may put me in jail. I must dispute this finding. How accurate is this TASC? What can I do? This may ruin my life. Incarceration will cause me to lose my home, job, vehicle, etc. I do take sinus medication almost daily. I take Equate max strength and Actifed for allergy/breathing difficulties. Please HELP. I am not a druggie and can not afford an attorney. I don't know how to save myself from catastrophe. I only have 2 weeks before they take me into custody. I did tell the person who required I test I was taking cold medicine, I was not informed my test had failed until court today. I was not under suspicion of Meth use. TASC did not ask if I take medications. I don't care what you think about meth users, I need serious intelligent answers not hateful insinuations. Thank you.

- quit whining and go to legal aid...I bet you did a toot or two..Come on!!!!!
- Contact the Public Defender's Office immediately.
- Sounds like you're screwed unless you come up with the money for an attorney. If you are innocent, then you need to borrow the money or whatever you need to do, but the courts will not allow results of a test that is not proven very accurate and widely accepted as reliable (such as DNA). Sorry.
- I think you can go to ASU or call them and ask for free legal advice. I also think that there are legal aids who offer their services for free, or charge whatever you can afford. Did you list the antihistamines that you take daily for allergies? A note from a doctor would be helpful in backing your claim of severe allergies. You can find a free doctor also at ASU, or they can refer you. Good luck to you. I will pray for you.
- "If you can not afford an attorney one will be appointed to you." It sounds like you have a defense, You should plan on having your key witness be the person who can back up your story as purchasing the legal medication many times, if you take as much as you say. Then many Character witnesses to lean the jury in your favor. If you are a meth head I hope you lose everything that is what you deserve. B.T.W. they took the ingredient that would cause the positive result out of Actifed.
- Sounds like the ingredients in the medication are the same ones that are precursors to meth. That will test positive. You need to contact the tester and ask for false positive info.
- It is well known that some screening tests for methamphetamine can give false positives when the person being tested has taken the decongestant pseudoephedrine. Actifed does contain pseudoephedrine, so you may have an argument. The problem is that the more sensitive gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GCMS) test can differentiate pseudoephedrine from methamphetamine. The TASC website indicates that positive screening tests are confirmed by GCMS. Then again, no test is 100% reliable. You might do some research to check the published false positive rates on whatever tests were done.
