Can water( in toilet) affect drug test?

I was going to do a home drug self test kit for cocaine, and I was going to secretively inspect my parent if he has been doing any. So i was wondering if I got his pee out of the toilet bowel, would this effect the results? Thank you so much. This is a serious question..Please I need answers. I need to get my dad's urine secretively..

1. Obviously the water will dilute the sample, so it will have to be more concentrated than normal. Depending on how much water is in the toilet and/or how much your parent urinates, your plan could be headed nowhere. My question to you is how are you going to stop them from flushing?
2. I've never heard of this situation before, but here is my guess on the answer: Because of the dilution that would happen in the toilet bowl, it probably would not show up because the threshhold for the drug to show up on the test would not be concentrated enough. If he were using a TON you MIGHT get a response, but it seems unlikely. What about putting a layer of saran wrap just over the top of the water in the bowl overnight? That way, if he happened to pee in the middle of the night, you might have a shot at collecting it, and if he noticed it you could just say you tossed it in there...etc. The best advice I can give for your question would be to contact a mail away drug testing lab like Redwood Toxicology. Here's there phone number: 877-444-0049. Discuss it with the lab tech at their office-- they're very nice. Also, I just thought about it and that lab has self-tests that they will mail you which if you get a sample from the toilet that is too diluted to tell for sure, they let people mail in uncertain samples to them and they will then test it in the lab to a much more minute degree.
