How long will cocaine show up in a urine test if you were a heavy user?
My partner was a cocaine addict and is trying to give up. The last time he said he used was Friday, before this he was using heavily. He did a urine test today (6th day) and it showed up positive. I am now wondering if he has lied to me or if it really can stay in your system longer than the 5 days the test leaflet says? I really want to believe him but have been lied to so many times I don't want to be let down again? Thanks for your help!

- i think he lied. it should only stay for about 3 days
- He lied You need to seriously talk to him about this.... it can really hurt your relationship if they do not stop and they keep disapointing you.
- Doesn't matter how heavy a user he is, 5 days is the maximum that it would show in the test; unless he hasn't drank any fluid since Friday... At the very best, he took coke on Saturday - maybe after. Were I you, I'd sit him down and have a serious talk.
- it is around 5 days but does depend on individual and how well their body processes drugs out of system. Not a lot you can do until next test - i would suggest you give him your trust this time and wait for next test as that should def be clear with no excuses
- he's a typical junkie a liar dump the idiot
- The metabolites of cocaine following acute use may be detected for up to 164 hours and there is evidence to suggest that this may be longer for chronic users so he may not be lying. The only way to be sure is to wait until after his first clear test.
- Coke goes through very fast. Most people its 3-5 days. He could be lying, or it might of not worked itself out since he was an addict (especially if he is going through large quantities at a time). This is something you need to talk to him about. They sell urine tests at walgreens. Have him take another one in a few days.
- When urine is being screened for the presence of cocaine, it is actually benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, that is being measured. One study suggests that high dose users (i.e., 0.5 gram or greater for each episode of use) can test positive after eight days. Another study claims that benzoylecgonine can be detected in heavy cocaine users for 10-14 days. The longest time over which positive urine levels of benzoylecgonine were detected was 10-22 days. This was after chronic use of extremely high doses of 112 grams per week.
- I just want to say first; every persons body is different when it comes to clearing out toxins, that said. I used cocaine 7 days ago. I have a drug test coming up this week for work. I bought the at home test yesterday and tested myself and came up positive for cocaine. I read that on-line for heavy users it does stay in the system longer. But again it really depends on how fast someones metabolism is. And mine sucks right now. HA HA
