Is it true that drinking water before a pregnancy urine test can alter the results?

If that is true, is it only for early testing? If a girl was 3 months pregnany, would drinking water alter the results on a urine test? Should i be worried if there was a negative test at the clinic 3 months after sex?

1. If you drink excessive amounts of water before taking a pregnancy test very early on in the pregnancy, it can affect the results. If a girl is three months pregnant, it will show up on a HPT. If you went to the clinic, got a negative pregnancy test, and haven't had your period for three months, it's time to call your doctor to see what's going on. Good luck!
2. It's true that drinking a lot of water can dilute the amounts of the hormone Hcg in the urine -- then it can't be picked up. After 3 months of pregnancy, there should be a pretty good amount of the hormone in the body, so it would take a LOT of water to dilute this down. Take the test with the first morning pee
3. No, there is a hormone in the urine called a human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) that will still be present in the the system regardless of how much water someone drinks. Its probably better to have more water anyway! :) If the test says that you aren't pregnant than you probably have nothing to worry about. Make sure to practice safe sex practices so that you don't have to worry about the possibility of being pregnant (if you don't want to get pregnant that is.)

I know you are suppose to take a urine test first thing in the morning and they do say that having a lot of liquids in your system may trigger the wrong result in the tests if its a early pregnancy because of the checmical that the test picks up to declare pregnancy but being pregnant 3 months along and drinking water and the test results should not interfere with the results because being that far along you should be producing alot more of the chemical that the test picks up more so now than at a early pregnancy. hope this info helped Good Luck
5. If a woman was 3 months preggy, the HCG hormone would be in massive amounts by this time, most likely all tests will pick it up.
6. Nope. I kept drinking Monster energy drinks, and tests still came out positive like an hr later.
7. IF YOUR 4 TO 6 WEEKS PREGNANT IT MIGHT BECAUSE THE AMOUNT OF HCG IN YOUR BLOOD WILL DILUTE. THIS IS WHY TAKING A HOME PREGNANCY TEST SHOULD BE DONE WITH YOUR FIRST MORNINGS URINE.
