Blood Drug Testing

Urine pregnancy tests are just as accurate as blood tests?

I am the girl who's been posting about being a week late and flipping out. So, I took your advice and called a doctor to get a test. They told me that they would just give me an EPT because it's just as accurate as blood test. Is this true? Should I go, and just ask for the blood test? I know that the stress I am putting myself through right now will probably just delay my period more, but I'm not able to calm myself down. What do you guys think?

  1. Go get a HPT. They are just as good. The difference is that the HPT is just a yes/no test. The blood test will give you actual numeric hormone levels. IF the HPT comes up positive you will get a blood test. Until then, it is not necessary. The urine tests are just as sensitive.
  2. I would say a blood test is more accurate, that can tell you exactly how much HCG is in your blood, whereas a urine test doesn't, so you could be pregnant but the HPT or EPT wouldn't pick it up because your hormone levels are still low. I'd definitely get a blood test, i know my friends have been in the position where the HPT's were negative when infact they were pregnant - confirmed by blood tests.
