Blood Drug Testing

Should welfare recipients have to pass a drug test to get a check?

I don't see why not, when many of the tax payers that actually pay for the checks have to pass drug tests for work.

  1. I'd vote for it.
  2. Absolutely!
  3. I actually like the idea since they are getting something for nothing but I think you will find many advocacy groups opposed to it claiming it is an infringement of their rights..
  4. Only if they do not use shaving cream when they shave.
  5. How about welfare only for the physically disabled that it.
  6. Yep. They should also have to prove why they don't have a job yet. Have they tried to get a job? Why were they turned down? Who turned them down?
  7. That is a good point. Yes I say lets do it. If they can afford drugs they can afford food
  8. I have to pass a pre-employment drug test to collect my paycheck.
  9. Why? Bush didn't.
  10. That would be a violation of their "civil rights".........imagine that?
  11. I don't think burdening the system further with additional bureaucracy would do anything other than cost more.
  12. Nope. Too costly...doesn't fix the problem. MOST welfare recipiants are children under the age of 5. 64%. If those children's parents are drug tested and fail, then the children go without food staples and medical care. not good. OR, you remove the child from the home, to be placed into foster care/adoption....which will then pay for the child until they are 18-21 years old...far more costly for you. The second largest group are the elderly (6 million). How do we screen out who is using illegal drugs and who is using prescribed vicadin/morphine? The third largest group are the disabled and our Veterans...1 in 4......again, their medication could disqualify them from benefits. <<foster mommy
  13. Not just yes, HELL YES!! It forces adults with children to be responsible.
  14. Yes. And they should have the option to get sterilized as well. **the disabled not included. I don't mind helping them at all.**
  15. Yes
  16. It sounds like a great idea, but the only problem would be the children in the household. They can not help if their parent/parents are drug addicts. If they do drug tests on the parents, then the children will not have food or other resources. Of course, requiring a drug test could be a good way of knowing who is not suitable to raise their children.
  17. corporate welfare takes three times as much out of my paycheck as does social welfare..... what stipulations do you propose for the corporate welfare bums?????????
  18. i don't think it's too much to ask.
  19. Absolutely!!!.. How about voting against welfare all together and leave it up the the working individual if they want to donate to charity?
  20. Sure! You are talking about the CEOs of the failed companies the $700 billion is to bailout right?
  21. No and no one else should either. Its no bodys business what I put in, on, around, or over my body.
  22. Are you speaking of the Banks ,Mortgage companies and all those rich fat cats on wall street that Bush wants to give that 700 billion dollar welfare check to ?
  23. Im not really for drug testing . But hey offer me free money and im all for it .
  24. Hey there's an idea!! They cost this country millions a month! Let's drug test them for everything and since they don't have any money for legal help or protection, let's take their kids from them and make them sign contracts to work for FREE! Better yet, make them servants of the wealthy (people who THINK they are wealthy get 'em on weekends) that way the wealthy don't have to pay for labor, save that money for labor and won't need to borrow $700 Billion from the taxpayers. The wealthy can get more laws passed to get out of paying taxes and more off shore accounts to hide their tax free money. The poor are ruining this country with all the political power they have. Drug Test them ALL!
  25. ONLY if the same is required of politicans before they vote.
