Blood Drug Testing

Is it safe to take frequent lab test (blood drawn)?

My PCP ordered a lab test for me last december. They took 3 tubes for the test, a week later another tube was taken. Last january, another 2 tubes were drawn. February, 2 tubes were drawn. This march, I will need another 3 tubes for different tests. Is it safe loosing that much blood every month?

  1. A tube of blood only holds a couple ounces. Normally you can "donate" about a pint of blood every 8 weeks. If you are concerned have them check your iron levels.
  2. Sure....it is very safe. Three tubes isn't that much blood at all. THink of these patients in hospitals....they usually get atleast 5 tubes drawn per day while admitted! Your body replenishes your blood volumes very fast.
