I had a positive home pregnancy test and the next day a blood test from the doctor. They said I wasnt prego. ?
I dont take hormone drugs that would give me a false positive and i dont do drugs. I dont get it? what if i get another positive home pg test? I am concerned because I have the Mirena. But blood tests are obviously more accurate than a home pg test right? I had gotten a blood test the very next day after the positive home pg test. and i have the Mirena birth control which i have had since january and since then only light bleeding for a few days usually ever month. im not late with that but it could happen b/c i've got mirena. also, i've had a miscarriage before my 2nd daughter and i would've know if i had one, there was no pain or any heavy bleeding. i dont see how a blood test could be wrong either b/c if you are pg then some kind of hcg levels would have shown up right? but im still worried why a home pg test was wrong...

- yes, you are not pregnant if the doctor says so
- Yes, blood tests are more accurate. Are you sure you didn't get an ovulation test by accident?
- yes, if the doctor told you your not then their right. sorry
- i would say wait a week or so and test again. if it is still coming up positive, go back to the doctor-they could have been wrong.
- Easily explained by an early miscarriage (they are a lot more common than most people realize, with as much as 50% of all conceptions ending in miscarriage, most before the woman ever finds out she's pregnant). Basically, you did get pregnant, HCG levels started building, then came the miscarriage. HCG levels started dropping. You then took an HPT that detected the HCG in your urine. By the time you got to the doctor's office of a blood test, HCG levels had fallen below the level used to denote pregnancy.
- blood tests are much more accurate. i have had SO many false positives in the past. i once had 5 positives in a row and then the doctor said i was not pregnant. I was not taking any kind of drugs either and so i cant explain it. But if the blood test says no then from my experience its a no. If your period does not come in a week or so you can ahve another blood test to be sure as the hormone levels increase every few days so it may have been too soon. but blood tests are hardly ever wrong.
- Doctors make mistakes all the time. No telling why the home pregnancy test was positive and the blood test was negative - it might be too early to detect. Have you missed your period yet? If so how many days have gone by since your missed period? I would wait a few more days and then retest at home, if its positive ask the doctor if you can come back in for a urine AND blood test. good luck!
- maybe you had a chemical pregnancy?
- I have a friend that didn't get a positive pregnancy result until she was 3 months pregnant. Shes also in the army and getting ready for Iraq so she got all the shots you get before you go and so they keep testing her just to be safe and when she got there finally it showed up in her blood so she got sent home.
- Doctors are more accurate..
