  1. Because the baby may have the O+ blood type and your body will see it as an infection or whatever and attack it.
  2. the majority of all babies are born with a positive blood type. anddd.. with your negative, during your pregnancy, your blood will pick up the baby's + and make antibodies for it. and your body will attack your baby. soo, your doctors have to make sure that doesn't happen.
  3. lulz... Anyone who thinks "But it's just not fair!" is a valid argument is probably not yet fit to procreate.
  4. The shots are a medicine called "Rhogam". They are required to help keep you and your baby safe, if there is a risk of your baby having Rh-positive blood. If there is no risk of that, for instance if you AND the father are O-, then you do not need Rhogam. I am O- and so is my husband, so I didn't take the Rhogam shots. Here is an excerpt from the citing I pasted below: "Normally Your immune system protects against potentially harmful substances (antigens). When foreign antigens enter your body, your immune system makes antibodies to help destroy them. If you are Rh negative and you're exposed to Rh-positive blood your body may make antibodies to Rh-positive blood on your next exposure to it."
  5. tbqh babies are an infection, scientifically
  6. Honey, I'm negative also (B-, it's not just O-, it's ALL negatives) and was PETRIFIED of the thought of getting an needles stuck in my body, so needless to say, this whole, having babies thing has been tremendous therapy for me. Initially it's scary, but after a few pokes, it gets easier. Not saying I like it or anything, but it is what it is and there's not much anyone can do!
