Blood Drug Testing

A blood test doesn't indicate lymphoma, but would anything on it be abnormal?

And by blood test, I don't mean just a complete blood count, I also mean a blood chemistry panel (glucose, liver and kidney function). Everything I had done came back normal. Also, I know an abnormal urine test may indicate the possibility of multiple myeloma, would it do the same for lymphoma? (My urine test was also normal) I ask this because I'm a hypochondriac and need some reassurance. Fever? No Itchiness? Here and there, nothing crazy Weight loss? Actually, I gained 4 lbs and have kept it steady Night Sweats? Mild, infrequent, maybe once or twice a month. Usually more frequent during stress Fatigue? Yes, but I also just started Xanax and Celexa Lightheadedness? On and off, less frequent than before I'm also under a lot of stress and have derealization here and there (and it fucking sucks). Is derealization a symptom of any cancer?

  1. In order to diagnose lymphoma, cbc's are usually abnormal. A bone marrow test would also be performed to determine for sure.
  2. "Derealization" is not a specific symptom for any type of cancer. Many of my patients who presented with any of the two dozen or so types of lymphomas had perfectly normal results for urinalysis, CBC and blood chemistry tests. You need evidence of a lymphatic tumor mass on examination or x-ray studies and then a biopsy to make a lymphoma diagnosis. The biopsy is the key, and you must have a suspicious mass to biopsy. The only reassurance I can give you is that there are more than 1,437,000 cases of cancer expected for the year 2008 when all the data is in, and just over 74,000 are expected to be Hodgkin's or non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. If you are a U.S. citizen, there are 305,629,304 of you - - which means that the chances of a U.S. citizen having a lymphoma in 2008/2009 is about one in 5000.
  3. I have cll my white count was 100,000 that was the indicator then they did the bone marrow test (not fun) they found it because i had a fall and they ran the test.
