Blood Drug Testing

Blood test showing something wrong with liver, what could it be?

My hubbie went for some blood tests as the doctor suspects he may have coeliac disease. By his symptoms this may be true. The nurse today said he must come in to talk to the doctor re. his liver blood tests. Any ideas what could have shown up?

  1. Probably raised enzymes.
  2. Liver enzymes are elevated from a variety of illnesses. I know that when something is wrong everyone wants a diagnosis quickly but a multitude of tests may need to be performed in order for the physician to diagnose correctly. Correct diagnosis is very important as that is the key to treatment. Be patient, do not solicit information based on elevated enzymes or abnormal liver function tests on this website, the responses you get will be from the persons own experiences and may have nothing to do at all with what is going on with your husband and may unnecessarily worry you. Good luck
  3. Hi There is a relationship between elevated liver enzymes such as ALT, AST and ALP, and coeliac/celiac. It is possible that these readings will go back to normal if this turns out to be your husband's problem and he goes on the gluten-free diet. Here are some articles that discuss the connection. Hope this helps some! Good luck!
