Blood Drug Testing

why would the hospital refuse the test ? please help ?

Hi there i suffer rhabdomyolyosis. i had a muscle biopy which was normal. However i still get pains in my legs and body. So i wen to see my consulatant neurologist and he arranged for me to have an ischaemic forearm excercize test and cpp2 and mc ardles blood tests. i had not heard from the hospital for 5 week so i rung yesterday and they told me that clinical chemistry have refused to carry out the ischaemic forearm excercize test. Why could they refuse ?? please help

  1. Since each patient and their history are evaluated individually, determination of the test(s) to be performed is based on the patient's symptoms and suspected diagnosis.
  2. maybe they feel that it wouldn't be worth while waisting money, if they thought it would work I'm sure they would have done it.
  3. Rhabdomyolysis diagnosis depends mainly on blood and urine tests. The ischaemic forearm test is not used in diagnosing your condition so it's highly unlikely a neurologist would order one unless he had a different diagnosis in mind and only then if he suspects a false positive for that diagnosis.
