Blood Drug Testing

What blood tests are done during pregnancy?

Does anyone know what kind of blood tests are performed when someone finds out she is pregnant and what the doctor will look for? Would they also test for hepatitis A,B and C?

Public Comments

  1. alot! hiv twice and some other stuff, i cant even remember what it was all over
  2. They test for all STDs (except Herpes, which in most cases you must have an outbreak for them to be able to test). Most tests are optional. They also do a glucose test, which involves drinking a sugary drink and taking blood after an hour. I believe those are the only required tests. I really can't remember, its been so long.
  3. Gene counts Gestational diabetes LFTs diabetes tests pretty much everything they can test blood for and they take alot
  4. The first time they draw blood they test you for your blood type, your iron level, hiv, hepatitis, and a quantitative hcg level, which tells them about how far along you are. Then you will have to do a glucose tolerance test, to check for gestational diabetes, then at about 21 weeks they will do a triple screen which checks for birth defects. And those are the routine tests. Anything above and beyond would be specific for the person and the pregnancy
  5. Blood tests to check for: Blood type Rh factor Anemia Syphilis Rubella Hepatitis B Down Syndrome Spina Bifida And others I'm sure.
  6. HCG, HIV, HEP B, rubella, type and screen, Hemoglobin and Hemocrit. (these are the main ones when you find out your pregnant at your very first visit) Also pap smear for gonorrhea and chlamydia. when you are 20 weeks pregnant they can test for cystic fibrosis and other anomalies like spinal bifidia.
  7. 1.A Complete Blood Count 2.H.I.V 3.Sico cells 4.H.I.V again 5.For any STDs
