Blood Drug Testing

Feeling tired all the time and had some blood tests?

I had some blood tests at my doctors due to feeling tired all the time. One of the tests was a CRP and it came back slightly high. The doctor asked me to come back in a fortnight and get it done again. I have had the results of the second one this morning and the receptionist says I have to have another CRP blood test now, so I have booked one on Monday. Totally confused as I don't know what could be wrong with me and why am I getting blood took a third time.

  1. what is CRP? I am also tire all the time and i have had blood tests, an MRI brain scan and a multiple sleep latency test and these all came back as normal. I haven't heard of CRP. The only thing is my liver function test shows Gilberts syndrome, i am getting fed up with trying to find an answer. I went to bed at 10.30 last night and got up at 9 this morning and i still feel shattered!
  2. crp is C-reactive protein, it tests for inflammation and other similar issues/diseases.
  3. your thyroid can cause you to have these symptoms if the numbers are off.
  4. Oh I just love doctors! A CRP stands for C - reactive protein and is a useful test used to monitor activity of Rheumatoid Arthritis, amongst other things. Without knowing more its difficult to help you honey but my advice would be to do everything the doctor requests at this time and, as soon as you can, make an appointment to see him and tell him how worried you are.
  5. Hello, i had something similar recently and i also found unless you verbally pinned your doctor down you weren't going to find out why they kept taking more blood - i was starting to imagine a small cabinet full of the stuff the way i was constantly being tested. Anyway to cut to the point when i finally had enough track marks that i looked like a pin cushion i said enough until some one tells me why. Apparently, in my case there was a problem with my blood cells - that is my own immune system was attacking me and my red blood cells which was giving me a range of symptoms including tiredness all the time. Some times your blood work shows something potentially problamatic but could be caused by something other than illness so they keep repeating the test to be sure that the problem wasn't a 'fluke'. If the results differ than they start to track the problem. I dont know if this will help but why don't you look up ITP - its listed on the NHS directory and encyclopedia of illnesses along with symptoms, causes, cures etc. I'm not saying that you have my problem but you could see if perhaps there are other symptoms listed that you hadn't really thought may be related and secondly i'd call my doctor and tell him to tell me exactly why he wants more tests in fifty words or less that i could understand without a medical dictionary at my side. After all its your body and you deserve to know what they suspect is the problem even if they turn out to be wrong. Best of luck - on the bright side perhaps your just anemic and need more Iron!
  6. CRP= a-reactive protein, is a very high sensitivity, low specificity test, rather like the ESR. Both are elevated at the drop of a hat by almost any condition that affects the patient, from a cold to auto- immune diseases to cancer. All they tell you is something is happening, but they don't say what or where. If they are inexplicably raised with no other apparent abnormality picked up, we just repeat them. If they return to normal, we assume whatever it was was of no consequence, however if they remain elevated we have to dig deeper and try and find out why.
  7. CRP is your C-reactive protein. If your level was elevated, then there is some kind of inflammation in your body. CRP is performed to check for rhumatoid arthritis, lupus, or vasculitis. Too, it could be indicative of heart disease. Trust your doctor to know what he/she is doing. They will get you on the road to health. Hope you feel better soon.
