Blood Drug Testing

Does the hospital give you a drug test when you deliver a baby? What happens if you test positive for pot?

Does the hospital give you a drug test when you deliver a baby? What happens if you test positive for pot? I just wanted to know if they test for no reason, and what happens when/if you test positive? Do they call DFACS? Do they take your baby from you?

1. Depends. If you have independent health insurance they will most likely not test you or the baby, unless they suspect you are using- or if the baby is displaying withdrawal symptoms. However, if you are on government provided health coverage like Medicaid, or whatever government assistance they have in your state, then YES they automatically the baby. If baby tests positive for ANY drug not prescribed to mother, they will call DCF. It will then be handled through Dept of Families & Children. They may or may not take the baby at that time, it really just depends on what happens.

No they don't give u a drug test b/c if u take any drugs or get an epiduralo or anything then all that will show up. but why the hell would you b risking the health of your innconet baby just to smoke pot people like this should b shot in the fucking face for only carying about them selfs and not there baby!!!
3. You an idiot if your on pot, and your pregnant. They should take your baby. How can you purposely mess up a child like that? What did they do to you..
4. they dont test you, but i am alarmed you would smoke pot while pregnant...??? Think of your baby!!
5. They don't test you for drugs....but they can run bloodwork on the baby. If they do then it will show in the babies system. If this happens then yes they will take the baby away from a mother that has given birth to a baby with drugs in their system. When a pregnant mother does any type of drug it also affects the unborn baby.
6. When your baby is born it is gonna show signs that you were on drugs. Excessive crying, underweight, ETC.. Then they will test the baby for drugs and they will show up. They will then take your baby and you may have any other children you may have taken away from you because you seriously are not the type of person who would be a good parent if you are smoking weed while pregnant or at any time.
