Blood Drug Testing

why not use blood from your period for blood tests?

okay, so this is a weird question and it sounds kind of gross, but i've always wondered this because i hate getting blood tests. so if a girl is on her period and she needs to get a blood test, can the doctor just use the blood from her period instead of poking her arms or fingers for blood? there's more blood anyways and it's just blood so would it make a difference? i understand that the blood from a girl's period might contain other stuff though, but does that matter?

  1. it's not just blood, its your uterus lining
  2. It's "dirty" blood. Like the area down there isn't always "clean" yenno so they can't check it. And that would be weird during testing...
  3. your period isnt really "blood" it is the shedding of the outside layer of your uterus. it would not be helpful if you are having blood work done to use this, as it wont display any abnormalities normal blood tests show
  4. it's not really pure blood. your period is shedding of the uterine lining. you are expelling a tissue that has blood in it- not blood. blood tests are done to get cell counts that are in the blood. biologically, you couldn't use the period tissue becuase the cell ratio would not be the same as what is in your viens.
  5. the blood for test is taken out of the body, not "waste" so to speak
  6. the blood that passes in the period is mostly water its simply an aid to flush out the lining of the uterus from the body, the reason they take blood straight from your veins is because its rich in oxygen and cells that contain all the things they need to look at.
  7. In order to have blood tested it needs to be sterile. period blood is contaminated with lots of different natural forming bacteria from your vagina, and they wouldn't get nearly enough blood from your period blood.
  8. it is not sanitary. the body is cleansing itself and that is why woman have periods. It is cleansing the uterus and vaginal areas. I wish we cloud use it since giving blood isn't always painless.
