will they automatically test for pregnancy when a woman is in the hospital and gets blood tests?
I was there for 3 days with an infection and they did a blood panel, just wondering if pregnancy testing is standard for someone of childbearing age...

- No it is not
- Not usually...and if they were going to, they would have notified you that they needed to know if you were pregnant or not.
- No you must request it. If you don't request it, they can not do it without first informing you that they will be doing such.
- I don't believe so. I think standard would be just checking blood count and stuff like that. >L
- If you go to the emergency room in cronic pain they will first give you a pregancy test to see if your pregnant so they would know what to give to you, because if your pregnant certain things you take itsnt good for the baby's health so they have to know becuase sometimes women dont like to reveal. So if it was an emergency room you went to they might haven checked if you mere pregnant.
- Depends on the hospital & what other tests they may want to do while you are in there. If they may want to do an MRI, x-rays or cat scan, they will usually run a pregnancy test so they know for safety reasons.
