What happens during pregnancy blood testing? Are there other options?
I have decided to contact my doctor today about getting a pregnancy blood test, since I am a week late and two at home pregnancy tests showed up negative. How do the blood tests work? How long do they take? I am really not a fan of needles at all... :( Also, is there another option to see if I'm pregnant? Do doctor's do ultrasounds or anything at this point in time? or is blood test the easiest way? I would hate to get poked with a needle if there were some other way...ugh.

- If you are pregnant, they will draw blood regardless and it is necessary. They can probably test for antibodies, blood counts and Rh factor while they're doing the pregnancy test.
- You can get a home pregnancy test. You just pee on a stick.
- they could do an ultrasound, they did it for me when i was pregnant with my second child. that has to be done transvaginally though, and let me tell you-it hurts! or you could also try doing the urine test at the doctor's office. their results are alot more accurate than the at home tests.
