Blood Drug Testing

Can blood tests determine pregnancy before you miss a period?

I want to find out if I am pregnant. My husband and I are trying to conceive our second child. I have been having some moderate to severe cramping in my lower abdomen. I have also been nauseous and very tired. I am two weeks away from my due period. But I would like to find out now because of these cramps. Can blood tests determine pregnancy sooner and where can they be performed?

  1. yes it can
  2. Yes they can tell a lot sooner than a HPT and they can be done at most local OBGYN offices. I think you have to be like 10 days past ovulation though in order for it to be able to tell.
  3. Some kits do advertise enough sensitivity to tell before the next period so read the kits and see which ones advertise for which days, you may still have to wait a bit good luck
  4. Yes a blood test can definitely determine if your pregnant before your expected period. If you book an appointment with your doctor they would be able to administer one or send you down to the clinic where its done. I'm not sure if planned parent hood or any other non profit clinic would be able to do it for you. Call around. Good luck Darling!!
  5. If you are two weeks away from your period then you are not pregnant at this moment from sex you have had this cycle. Unless you think you got pregnant last cycle and for some reason had your period (which is not the norm). Women ovulate 10-16 days prior to the day their period arrives. It is different for each women. The egg would be fertilized on the day you ovulated (the day of conception). It takes the fertilized egg around a week and up to 10 days to implant into the uterus. Once the egg is implanted then your body starts releasing pregnancy hormones HCG. Prior to implantation you are not pregnant. Prior to implantation your body does not even know that you conceived. It takes a while for the HCG to build in your system. Your body's reaction to HCG is what causes pregnancy symptoms. If you wanted to have a pregnancy blood test done, you would call your OBGYN and speak to them about it.
  6. they can.
