Do blood tests show infections everywhere in the body?
I think I may have some kind of vaginal infection, but I just got a blood test and it didn't indicate any kind of infection which I guess would have shown up by high levels of something in my blood? Do blood tests show infections for anywhere in your body or would I have to get a special test for that area at the gyno to know if I had an infection down there for sure?

- Blood tests will only show infections that are in your blood stream. If you have an infection down there then your doctor needs to do a culture. They can take a small piece of tissue and test it for the presence of an infection.
- You can now buy some over the counter swabs to test for certain vaginal infections. but your best bet is to see a gyno. A blood test usually can tell about bacterial infections, which increase your white blood cell count. A vaginal infection usually needs to be swabbed and tested. Get it done professionally the first time to rule out anything that could be harmful.
