Blood Drug Testing

Do blood tests show infections everywhere in the body?

I think I may have some kind of vaginal infection, but I just got a blood test and it didn't indicate any kind of infection which I guess would have shown up by high levels of something in my blood? Do blood tests show infections for anywhere in your body or would I have to get a special test for that area at the gyno to know if I had an infection down there for sure?

  1. Blood tests will only show infections that are in your blood stream. If you have an infection down there then your doctor needs to do a culture. They can take a small piece of tissue and test it for the presence of an infection.
  2. You can now buy some over the counter swabs to test for certain vaginal infections. but your best bet is to see a gyno. A blood test usually can tell about bacterial infections, which increase your white blood cell count. A vaginal infection usually needs to be swabbed and tested. Get it done professionally the first time to rule out anything that could be harmful.
