My wife has just had some Thyroid Function blood tests done. What is a good range?
Her Free t4 was 9.1 pmol/l which was within the reference range Her TSH was 1.96 uU/ml which was within the reference range Her Free t3 was 3.5 pmol/l which was lower than the reference range. I have checked the internet and 3.5 seems ok for a 31 year old lady. We are moving to Australia and worried this may effect us getting a visa.

- TSH normal is from 0.35 - 5.50 T4 FREE normal is from 0.7 - 1.6 T3 Free normal is from 2.3 - 4.2 So she falls within normals for all tests.
- dokter shool let yu look at the test printout. Nowadaes, almost printouts sho the normal range & put sum sorta blob on all lines weer sumthang is outta raenj.
- I am Australian and I work in pathology. These results are normal and will not affect you getting a visa. If you are otherwise healthy, they will be assessing your eligibility based on your educational level, job skills, amount of money you have etc. Hope you are successful - this is a great country to live in.
- Those are normal numbers, they do not indicate the presence of any thyroid disease, and though I certainly can't speak authoritatively about what criteria the Australian version of the INS uses to issue visas, even if you wife did have some thyroid disease, I would think that it would not be a major factor in their decision.
