- Several medications can interfere with a TSH thyroid screening, like corticosteroid, aspirin, and lithium. Also, if you’ve had recent X-ray that used radioactive dyes, ask your doctor when you can take a TSH thyroid screening. But, You're wording is confusing. Are you asking if you can detect amphetamine levels when you check thyroid function? If someone is specifically looking at thyroid function...no. If they make you pee in a cup...then yes. The presence of amphetamines is detected in urine. Thyroid dysfunction is not detected in urine. Amphetamine has a 7-32 hour half life, depending on the urinary pH. The assay is capable of detecting the use of methamphetamine or amphetamine for 24-48 hours post dose or as long as 72 hours depending on factors such as amount used, fluid intake, excretion, and urinary pH. If you have a prescription for amphetamines (Adderall, etc.) don't worry about it. If you are taking illegal substances....frickin' stop it! It's a bad idea and will seriously affect your health.
- if you took speed; a thyroid test will ruled out a hyperactive thyroid, then they will test for drugs
