If you are given a Blood Test for your Thyroid, would they also detect narcotics?
I had a blood test for my thyroid, and I had taken vicodin earlier, just wondering if they look for that at all, or if it puts up a red flag, I don't want my doctor to think I'm a pill popper or something. They were prescribed to me for when I got my wisdom tooth pulled. But just curious if they even see that? Also I take adderall, prescribed as well... would that show up too?

- No. Unless they are testing for drugs they wouldn't know. They will run a test for your thyroid and that is all they will test for. You can ask what tests they will be running.
- yes they will show up but they wont say anything or put it in the report because they were testing for your thyroid not for narcotics
- They may see an irregularity in your blood work. It probably depends on how wide a spectrum of blood chemistry the test uses. I'd say something may show up, but not sure they will specifically identify it unless they look into it further. When you had your blood taken were you asked "Have you taken any drugs, prescription or over the counter, in the past few days?" They normally do so they can rule out any abnormal results from that.
