Blood Drug Testing

Pregnant with elevated thyroid blood test... help!?

Im 10weeks pregnant and I got my thyroid blood tests back. My ob said that the results were a bit of a concern and she has booked me into a specialst (waiting list). In the meantime I wanted to get some advice. My levels are: Free T4 22.5 TSH 0.07 T3 4.7 Im mainly concerned with how low TSH is, (normal is .5-5) so it seems a little low. Should i be taking iodene supplements or is that making it worse if I do have something wrong. Also, I have been having heart palpitations, feeling of throat closing in, and chest pain.. but i have been seeing a doctor about this sepearately. im worried that if i do have something it will affect my little baby. Has anyone been pregnant and had similar levels??? please provide your storeis.

  1. The feelings you are feeling are totally related to your thyroids. I had an overactive thyroid when pregnant, and I was on medication for the first 2 months. Somehow during the pregnancy, my levels went back to normal, and thyroids were fine until I had my baby/ he was tested at birth to make sure his thyroid function was fine though. The worst that could happen is that you baby is born with an overactive/underactive thyroid, and that can be treated :) Thyroid problems are actually quite common, so doctors are used to dealing with this in pregnant woman :) best of luck
  2. When my tsh was tested with my 3rd child it was..1,500. The highest they had ever seen. ( the higher the number the lower the thyroid function.) my synthroid dose was adjusted and I had a perfectly healthy baby. Looking at your numbers they don't seem that alarming. I would relax and wait to see the doctor and I'm sure all will be ok.
