What does it mean when you have to get lots of blood tests?
My step-mom has been going to the doctor's office to get blood tests a lot recently, but won't tell me what's wrong. Sorry there aren't a lot of details, but can you give me any ideas of what might be wrong? Thanks in advance.

- Liver problems?
- They take blood tests for many different reasons. To monitor the blood, just to make sure everything is flowing right. To make sure you thyroid, and all your glands are working properly. They take blood to check your cholesterol. So it could be she is just checking up on everything, because of her age. She could be feeling run down and wants to make sure it's nothing serious. If you are concerned you should ask her, she knows you love her. That way she can know you are there for her. She may not want you to worry, and that is why she hasn't said anything.
- It could be anything, I am very healthy and get lots of blood test because the couldnt find out what was wrong, eventaully they found an underactive thyroid glad, diabetes type 2 to be controlled by diet, every six months I get it done and they came back, my sugar level is great, liver, kidneys and choloesterol great. What age is she, could she be pregnant?
- Maybe there was nothing indicated in the first blood testing round, so the doctor wanted more. Or there was something and he wanted more tests to confirm it. There is no way to know what was on her blood testings unless she chooses to share. All that stuff is confidential between her and the doctor. You might go tell her you are really concerned about her and that you love her lots and would like to share her worries.
- It means your step-mom's doctor is doing a thorough job in trying to find out what, exactly, is wrong with her. Without knowing precisely what blood tests are being done, it would be hard to even guess at what the doctor suspects.
