Blood tests results: do they normally call you into the doctors office?
For blood tests or only if they find something. last time (a few years ago) I able to get them over the phone
Public Comments
- usually over the phone unless they want to talk about something
- new laws regarding confidential information now make it illegal to give out any medical information over the phone.
- its technically against the law to tell u over the phone so they should be calling u in...becuz they dont know who u r if they r calling u on a telephone...so basically u might have somethin wrong in ur blood but they could just be makin sure that they r not violating the laws
- I just had a complete physical and they called me and my husband to tell us that everything was okay. When my husband had his physical they had him go in for his results because it showed high cholesterol
- UK reply. You need to follow up, you aren't automatically notified. Sometimes it is entered on your doctors computer but they don't tell you! If you don't phone/go you will never know!
- It is usual in most practices these days to do it face to face, to ensure confidentiality, even if there's nothing amiss. There are occasions when they overlook telling you, so if it's taking a long time give 'em a ring. My GP will talk to me on the phone about it as we know each other very well, otherwise I suspect not.
- I've been for blood tests loads over the years, and every time there was something wrong i always got a letter to tell me the doctor wanted to see me, or a call. If it was ok i got a letter saying all was ok. Depending how bad it is or what you've been tested for, they'll either ask you to come in right away or just make an appointment to see your GP when you can
- hiya. you ring the dr and ask them for your results, give it a week.
