Blood Drug Testing

If the doctor does not tell you blood test results over the phone, does this mean it's something serious?

I had a blood test and she wouldn't tell me the results over the phone, I have to go in for an appointment. Is this a bad sign or do they always do this? I'm Canadian I don't know if this makes a difference for the privacy laws.

  1. unfortunately it probably is, maybe not serious but at least something that your doctor really wants to talk with you thoroughly about and face to face. try not to worry. it will be okay, no matter what it is. maybe the doctor just wants you to come in for another test too, you never know...
  2. sometimes yes, but also sometimes not. They have to subscribe to the HIPAA privacy act, and when you are on the phone, they for one cn't verify youre you and someone else could be listening. or of course, to be the devils advocate, they just want to bil you for another visit...
  3. A lot of times for privacy reasons and to make sure you understand what s/he is saying, the doctor will ask you to go in so s/he can talk and explain to you in person. Best of luck to you!
  4. Depends on the blood test if you had an H.I.V test then they never tell you over the phone, but if it's just a regular test then I've had my doctors office tell me over the phone. It could just be there policy. I know my doctor now always wants me to go in because he want another doctor visit out of me and my co-payment.
  5. Don't worry & be optimistic and I'm sure you are! In the U.S. it's consider very private matter and by law they must protect your privacy. Note : If you're able to be on Yahoo answers & ask questions...what could be wrong ? Be happy and soon you find out I WAS RIGHT :-D.
