Blood Drug Testing

How accurate are blood tests?

I have taken 3 pregnancy tests, but still think im pregnant because im 2 months late. How accurate are blood tests? Do they have false negatives alot?

  1. I dont think a blood test can have a false negative since it is testing for any amount of HcG in your system. Here is a great resource for TTC if you need it: http://www.thebump.com/stages/stage.aspx?stage=ttc
  2. well, when you get pregnant, your body puts the hcg hormone into your blood. this happens after implantation. a blood preg. test will either test for the hormone (qualitative), or specifically how much hormone you have (quantitative). In my opinion, it would be VERY difficult for the test to be incorrect, as long as the tech did the test properly. if you're thinking you might be prego, you could go ask for specifically a blood test. however, just because you're not having periods doesn't mean you're pregnant. for instance, i haven't had one since january and i'm not prego. yes, i'm having it looked into at the moment - it's not normal. i would suggest that you definitely go to the doctor, because it could be a sign of something going wrong.
  3. go and take blood test immediately.
