Blood Drug Testing

Do they do blood or urine tests at normal physicals?

I have to get a physical to be eligible for sports this school year. Do they do blood tests and such? All i can remember is the blood pressure, coughing, asking questions about sex/smoking, and all that other normal stuff. If they do those tests, do they just check for diseases?

  1. No, they just do the normal stuff for sports physicals usually. Blood pressure, eyes/ears check, breathing, etc..
  2. I'm pretty sure they always do a urine test. Why, you on drugs?
  3. Depending on how old you are and what tests they need, sometimes they take urine. Blood is more for specific conditions like if you're worried you're anaemic. They won't test for drugs without letting you know they're doing it.
  4. sometimes -ask your doctor.
  5. Mine always did both urine and blood tests. Urine to check for protein or infections etc. Blood tests to check for family conditions and generalized health concerns-fasting glucose and cholesterol. Possibly hemoglobin or thyroid information depending on any findings in the past for you or history with your family. I've never had them check for specific things at a general sports physical-only specific checks when I've had a specific complaint for them to check for something.
