Blood Drug Testing

How specific are urine and blood drug tests?

If you are taking oxycodone is that all it will show or will it show the specific drug like oxycontin, roxycodone, percocet or vicodin? Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help!

  1. The urine test only shows classes of drugs and there are basically 2 tests. One looks for obvious illegal drugs - opioids, marijuana, etc. The other will look for prescription drug types too. The blood test can be more specific.
  2. The screening tests are high sensitivity, low specificity, would show only positive indication in the opiate category. The confirmatory tests are high sensitivity, high specificity, and would identify which specific drug you took.
  3. Yes, they will show up. It will take a few weeks to completely leave your system. If you're addicted then it will be a few months until you start feeling better from withdrawal.
