False-Positive Pregancy Test, Cancer?
I took an at home pregnancy test that said i was positive. Then when I went into the doctors office to confirm it she said that it was unclear if i was or not, and sent me for some blood tests. Cancer runs in my family both my grandparents had it. So now I'm sitting here waiting to see if I have a low white blood cell count or not. I rather not get a response go talk to your doctor. I want to know if anyone else has found out that they had cancer this way. And what happens through this crazy process! I know a pregnancy test is not a test for cancer! I was told that it could be a possible choriocarcinoma. I have had symptoms of gas, bloating, cramping, and I've been very tired these past couple months aswell.

- It's probably not cancer. A home pregnancy test works by measuring HCG levels in your urine. Some kind of interference (like with soaps or certain medications) could cause a false positive. It could also be from improper testing.. like waiting too long before looking at the test. It could also have been faulty or expired. Yes, it is possible to be cancer, but not likely, especially with no other symptoms. Good luck!
- They're checking for pregnancy (HCG) hormone levels n your blood. If the hormones aren't there, no pregnancy; if there but very low count, very possibly not a viable pregnancy. It's not a test for cancer and they're most probably not counting white blood cells (which would indicate an infection of some kind, not necessarily cancer).
- Choriocarcinoma is a rare form of cancer in the tissues of the reproductive system. This type of cancer most often affects women. But it can also include a rare type of testicular cancer in men. Choriocarcinoma in women usually follows a pregnancy. It is more common after a molar pregnancy. A molar pregnancy is one in which a fetus does not develop. A tumor made up of abnormal cells develops instead of a baby. The tumor of the molar pregnancy is usually benign, which means it is not cancer. Molar pregnancies are more common in less developed parts of the world where nutrition is poor. Choriocarcinoma is also more common in those areas. Choriocarcinoma generally causes no symptoms until the cancer is widespread. Then the symptoms will be related to the major organs that are involved. That cancer would be the LAST cancer a dr would think of.
