Will a standard Blood Test show Pregnancy?

I was at the hospital yesterday with chest pain and palpitations. I had numerous of tests done including a blood test, which the doctor said was normal. They asked me when my next period was due I said next week, only to realize today that I'm actually a week late which is unusual for me. If I was pregnant, would it have shown up on the blood test they done yesterday? Or would they not have bothered to test for it since i was complaining of chest pain? Thanks x

1. They should have done a pregnancy test automatically if they did any kind of x-ray, which I would assume they would if you were having chest pain. This is the law. If you have not had your period in the last 10 days before an x-ray, or mri, catscan.etc then they are required to do a pregnancy test. If they did not do any of these, then no they would not auomatically check for a pregnancy.
2. They probably didnt test for it since you had no reason to think you were pregnant. To the above noter: She told them her period wasnt do until next week! Usually you have to ask them to test for pregnancy. Take a home pregnancy test then go back for another blood test.
