Blood Drug Testing

How do I do this chemistry problem?

The general test for Type 2 diabetes is that blood sugar (glucose C6H12O6) should be below 120 mg per deciliter. How can i convert this to molarity?

  1. Molarity = moles per liter you have mg per deciliter, and moles is grams / molar mass First convert mg per deciliter to grams per liter. 120mg = .12g, 10 deciliters = 1 liter so 120mg per deciliter = 1.2g / L now divide 1.2 grams by the molar mass of glucose, and you have moles per liter.
  2. Atomic weights: C=12 H=1 O=16 C6H12O6=180 Let glucose be called G and blood be called B. 120mgG/1dLB x 1gG/1000mgG x 1molG/180gG x 10dLB/1LB = 0.00667 M = 6.67 x 10^-3 M
