Blood Drug Testing

Can a urine pregnancy test fail to detect pregnancy in some women?

I know that if you take a test too early it could register a false negative, but I have been over 2 weeks late and I have taken four tests that were all negative. My cycle is usually like clockwork.. Ill know right down to the time of day when I will start. I know that it could be a possibility that I am pregnant, and I was told that some women won't register pregnancy with urine tests. What causes that, and is it rare that a urine test won't work?

  1. It can be but in very rare cases.. better go to your Doc and ask for blood test which is accurate Good luck
  2. its rare but you should consider taking a different brand take a clear blue or first response they work great.
  3. 4 tests should have told you if you were, but there probably could be a chance, but you would need a blood test to determine that. Also stress can cause you to be late with your period I once skipped a month thinking "could I be pregnant" I would relax and wait a few days if you dont start make an appointment to see a doctor. Good luck!
  4. You might wait one more week and try again before going to the doctor for a blood test. I think it's pretty rare not to ever get a positive test, but some women take longer than others. However, if you have any medical conditions or take any regular medications, you should probably go ahead and get tested with a blood test in case you need to change treatments or medications. Good luck!
  5. Heck yes it sure can! my friend was 3 months pregnant, knew for a fact that she was cause she had her son 2 years prior so knew the symptoms and yet had 9! failed pregnancy tests! im not too sure if you can say the brand on here but its "see thru" and a "boys color" lol i also had to take 4 pregnancy tests being 4 months pregnant in order to find out that i was pregnant :) good luck tho!!!
  6. It does happen, but it is rare. Most likely, your tests are accurate and it's safe to assume that you are not pregnant. I wouldn't bother spending any more money on them. Instead, make an appointment with your doctor and have a blood pregnancy test done. Blood pregnancy tests are highly accurate, having over a 99% accuracy rate. Good luck!! ♥
  7. It is possible but highly unlikely. Urine tests will almost always detect a pregnancy if you are over 2 weeks late. I have heard cases where the home pregnancy tests weren't accurate but it is possible for sure. You should get a blood test done and then you will know for sure. Good luck!
  8. Yes! For my mom, it took 6 weeks past her expected period to get a positive test with my sister (so she was already 10 weeks pregnant by that point). I would get a blood test. They actually quantify the Hcg levels in your blood.
  9. Well, for starters, if you test too early it will not be an accurate reading. If you test too early you can take 100 tests and they will all be negative. Also, if you do not follow the directions you will not get an accurate reading. If you keep a temperature chart you can watch what is happening every day.
  10. Yes, it can fail to detect in some women. I have had 6 pregnancies and 4 of those did not show up on the urine test. It seemed to be just my girls, as the boys showed up. My doctor even had me do urine tests off and on through out the my oldest girl to see if I would ever test positive I never did. It is a lower amount of the hormone that cause it. It doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the baby. Just means your body doesn't produce as much. I would just go see the doctor about a blood pregnancy test.
  11. The pregnancy tests I believe trigger pregnancy because of some type of protein that is increase in the blood or something or another. I found this site that agreed with what I thought. sounds legit. http://chemistry.about.com/od/chemistryfaqs/f/pregnancytest.htm I'm sure that some women don't have the right proteins for the tests to work so you're unfortunately going to have to see a doctor. But if you're pregnant you'll have to see one eventually anyways.
  12. Two weeks late is really not *that late* when taking a pregnancy test. And there can be many causes to a false negative, especially when you are using a stick that you pee on or a stick that you dip into pee as opposed to a test that has a numbered amount of drops put onto it- and the time of day. Levels of hCG differ in all women at all different times. All pregnancy tests vary in their sensitivity, your body may not be producing enough hCG for the test to even measure yet. Your body needs time for the hormone to rise to a high enough level to be detected in a test, and no one can predict how fast you are going to produce it. All pregnancy tests will tell you they are 97% or more accurate, but that is just simply not the case when you are dealing with ALL woman kind.
