  1. Did they do a QUANT blood test or a QUAL blood test? If it was a QUANT blood test that means they ran your blood in a machine to read exactly how many HcG are in your system. Anything over a 10 is considered pregnant, but because of human and machine error many hospitals require a certain amount, it's different at each lab, in your system before they can say with absolute confidence that yes, you are pregnant. If it was a QUAL test, then they draw blood, place 3 drops on a HPT and wait 3 mins. It's possible to get a false negative from this is tested to early. With all that said, blood is more accurate then urine. Odds are you are pregnant and they could not say yes as your HcG where not high enough for the OK when you did your blood test. ETA: Chava: DPO = Days Past Ovulation, AF = Aunt Flow aka your period.
  2. It sounds to me like you are definitely preggies!! it is also strange to me that a HPT can pick up the high HCG Count, but the blood test can't! They probably tested wrong!
  3. You might not like my answer, but I would say STOP buying all these tests :). You're spending a lot of money. I'm not sure what all your abbreviations mean (dpo and af). I'm guessing that you're about 17 days past your period due date which means you would be about 1-2 wks preggie. Now, this is a bit early for a blood test to show up your hormone levels. It's hard, but try not to do anything for another week and then get another blood test. By then you'll be about 3 wks and that gives your body enough time to produce some nice hormones to show up in the test. But most of all, talk to your doctor. He/she is the one to advice you on this, not anyone on this forum. There are hardly any doctors on here and seriously, you need doctor's advice in pregnancy. I hope it all works out. Please let us all know!!
  4. Depends on the type of blood test. Urine-based testing only detects hCG making it almost impossible to have a false positive (as your body doesn't produce the hormone if you're not pregnant) There are several types of blood tests that can be ran. One will read/detect the hCG (like a urinalysis) the other will count it (which can determine how "far along" a person is). There is always room for human error in a lab as sometimes they *can* mix up blood or run a wrong test. You can always wait a week or two more and have them rerun it. 1st answer is on the money, though.
