- Blood tests usually will let you know that you have a hight White Blood Count and High Leucocytes, and low Red Blood Count. But for breast cancer they usually take a biopsy right from the lump. Good luck I hope you don't have cancer.
- Depends what kinda cancer is suspected. For example, if there was a lump in the breast, the lump will be assessed by the GP. The GP will refer the patient to a clinic in hospital where a consultant will refer them to have an ultrasound, a mammogram and possibly an xray (basically scans of the area). If they look suspicious or if they dont clearly look negative, then a fine needle aspiration would be taken of the lump. If this is classed as positive then the patient will have a biopsy taken and wella, u have ur diagnosis. Immunochemical stains can also be used to determine specifically what kind of cancer is present. Likewise with leukaemia, a blood sample is taken and counts will be done of all the cell types. A blood film will be taken and analysed. Bone scans and bone biopsies will be performed for a diagnosis. Hope this helps. x
