Blood Drug Testing

What type of blood tests does a gynecologist normally run?

I am 22, slightly overweight, but otherwise healthy (I guess..). I went to the gynecologist for the first time last week because I had been missing periods and then when they came back I had one that lasted a month. Anyways... my pap came back normal and I tested negitive for stds, but the nurse said my blood work came back and all of my tests were abnormal. Is it possible for ALL of my tests to come back abnormal or is this a possible mistake in testing? Does anyone know what blood tests a gynecologist would most likely have done? The nurse said I needed to schedule an appointment to have more blood taken immediately and also scheduled an appointment to go over "treatment options." I really didn't know what she meant and I was in such a stupor I didn't think to ask any questions. Does anyone have any idea what this could be about... My mother has thyroid/hormone issues, could this possibly be about those? THANKS!

  1. There are a whole array of tests that doctors run when you go in for a well woman exam. In our practice we do testing to check you thyroid, blood sugar, kidneys, liver, cholesterol and a complete blood count. I'm sure your gyn also checked hormone levels because of your abnormal bleeding. If your mom had thyroid issues (also a hormone by the way) there is a huge possibility that you could get these issues as well. Thyroid problems can cause abnormal bleeding. You can also have weight issues. Anyway, I'm sure the nurse was over exaggerating when she said ALL of the tests were abnormal though! Hope for the best!
