will nicotine or alcohol show up in normal lab tests?
i have a normal urine and blood test tomorrow as part of my physical. will nicotine or alcohol throw anything off even if it's not what's being tested?

- No, those things don't show up unless they are specifically testing for them. And they need your permission to test for them. So relax.
- No they dont, doctor has to specifically request those tests to be done, and you have the right to refuse the test at anytime, so there should never be a situation where you would not know the test is occuring. So no worries..
- Normal physicals at the doctors' offices don't test for drugs, nicotine, or alcohol. It's illegal for them to test you without asking/informing you, and you have the right to say no. They check to make sure you don't have a UTI, no blood in the urine, urine sugar/protein levels are normal, and other things that are minor like that. Testing for drugs would take longer than the time it takes them as well because they have to specially request it be done.
