Blood Drug Testing

Can employers drug test kids that want to work during the summer?

We are starting a summer youth program, but was wondering if we can legally drug test kids 14-18 that may want to work....

  1. The law changes from state to state. Why don't you check with a lawyer? Do you really want to gamble your future on what a bunch of anonymous people post on yahoo?
  2. Absolutely. Parents sign a consent form if they want their children to attend.
  3. They can drug test whoever they want. If they are under 18, though, you need parental consent probably.
  4. If the parent consents to the test - yes. If the parent doesn't consent, they don't have any obligation to hire you.
  5. yes they can.
  6. YES... if it's planely stated on the application... with children you will need parent's signature, however.
  7. Yes but highly unlikely its very costly to test employees and the fact that you will only be employed for the summer they are not going to spend as much testing you as they pay you
  8. Under 18 you need consent from parents about the drug tests -- I'd imagine a few would be offended but then you can cite company policy on this. Better safe than sorry.
  9. That depends on the Law of the country you are in. Most of the countries allow test to be done on employees. Before ssending them for test you have to inform them that you are testing them for drugs. Ask them if they are willing. Or in the employment form this should be stated. Before testing, ask them to declare first
