Does a normal blood test mean no cancer at all?
When people get cancer, how long does it take for their blood to appear 'abnormal' in a blood test?
Public Comments
- It varies from person to person, and cancer to cancer. Leukeima for example, will ALWAYS show abnormal bloodwork. But other cancers may not show any abnormal signs until late. Anemia is often a sign of certain cancers, but its so commen that rarley do doctors even worry about it, unless its severe. If you are at a late stage of most cancers, you will have abnormal blood work, but at early stages its inconsluve, with the exception of leukemia.
- Blood tests do not diagnose cancer and with some cancers it may never be abnormal.
