Blood Drug Testing

How accurate is a pregnancy blood test at Planned Parenthood?

I'm having one done soon to find out if my negative HPTS are in fact negative, but I'm curious how accurate is the Blood Test? Will it absolutely find out if I am or not? It's been over a month since intercourse, if that helps. How much of the pregnancy hormones means pregnancy? Is it 5 and up?? Thank you so much! That answer is exactly what I'm looking for!! And also, if anyone else could answers, what are the chances of a Blood Test for Pregnancy coming out wrong?

  1. Blood tests are more accurate then HPT's. If you are a month in from the sexual activity chances are the blood test will be in the 100's at this point... Here is a guide for you but these numbers are calculated from the last menstrual period: 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml EDIT: If you were a month along, a blood test will not turn out negative... =)
  2. If you are far enough along then it should show up. If you are getting negatives on your HPTs that could be because you are testing to soon. Nothing in this life is absolutely 100% though. If you have ever seen the show I didn't know i was pregnant it details the stories of many women who took a lot of tests that all came up negative and sure enough about nine months later they started having pains and discovered they were pregnant after all. I hope everything works out for you though the way you want it to and this doesn't happen to you.
