What can the doctor find from a urine test?

I went to the doctor's about two weeks ago. I have to go back again because I have to retake it because they said there were traces of blood and bacteria in my urine. What kind of bacteria are they talking about? And the blood part is because I just ended my period. So what kind of bacteria could they have found from this urine test?

2. Bacteria can cause Kidney and urinary tract infections.
3. Because of the proximity of the rectum and the urethra, bacteria from the stools can sometimes pass up through the urethra, into the bladder and up through the ureters to the kidneys.
