Blood Drug Testing

first pregnancy blood tests? really need input please, most confusing thing ever?

Okay, so I have had what I thought to be implantation at about 7DPO.. I am now 10DPO with very sore breasts, extreme fatigue and still lower pelvic area pressure.. not cramps. I had a app with my obgyn today for an appointment to discuss my endometriosis and further figure out why we havent concieved and if there is a problem etc. Were still early in the TTC game but since I have endo and see my OBGYN everything 3 months anyway she has been helping us. Anyway we discussed this month and my BBT keeps increasing as the days go by, and a few symptoms as well as the what could have been implantation. I also starting yesturday have been having very frequent urination, I thought I might have had a UTI so I asked her about that and tested it came up negative that theres no UTI. So we talked a lot and a bunch of things I kind of got lost with her saying, she wanted me to go to the hospital today, not tomorrow for bloodwork.. so I said okay and me and DH left the clinic and went straight to the hospital. Heres where it gets interesting: I go to the window give her my number and my sheat and wait to be checked in she looks at the sheat and gos "CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!!" DH and I stop look at eachother and are like HUH?? were not pregnant? or well we havent confirmed if we are or not.. she go's no your pregnant she has sent you for your first prenatal bloodwork these tests are routine we check all new pregnancies for these tests ( Blood type, HIV, Syphilis, progesterone, rubella, HCG count, not the yes or no one just the count) There were 7 tests total. So I explained to her that Im not pregnant as far as I know and she continued with no we don't test for these unless you are pregnant, this is a sheat that proves your confirmed pregnancy. She then asked me questions, is this my first pregnancy, have I ever aborted or miscarried, will I be keeping my OBGYN as my doctor through out the pregnancy, will I be delivering at the IWK (childrens hospital) and all these q's. Then when I went to leave she go's congratulations on your pregnancy, good luck :) ! now we are TOTALLY confused!!!! is it possible my OBGYN forgot to tell my im pregnant or maybe I missed it or is this nurse just totally whacky out of her mind and these are routine tests for all TTc'ers?? we arent getting our hopes up, as this was just SO wierd.. but now I can't stop questioning if im about to me a mommy or if this lady is just whacked out of her tree??? Anyone know if these are just routine ttc testing or could they mean im pregnant and their was some confusion somewhere?? Thank You so much!! PS- early into the appointment she suggested doing a HCG test next month? but On my way out the door she told me to make a appointment for the next possible appointment available to discuss the blood work results, unfortunatly thats not until june 21st!

1. That is a confusing story. I'm sure your going crazy right now! My advice would be to go to the dollar store and buy a few pregnancy tests. If the doctor did infact do a test and you are pregnant it would have been by a typical test. The ones from the dollar store are actually the ones they use in the doctors office. If it comes up + then you know. If not the lady was probably just mistaken but the blood test might still come back + since you are very early if you are indeed pregnant. I hope you get the results your looking for! And if not this month I hope you have tons of baby dust :)
2. Yes all those test are for a prenatal work up especial the HCG count call the doctors office or go out and buy a preggo test to confirm.
3. My guess is that when you peed in the cup for your UTI, she kinda tested your pee for pregnancy and to double check sent you for blood work. She probably did not tell you because she did not want to get your hopes up.
4. Ok so that is indeed confusing, if I were you I would just call my OB and ask the nurse when she pulls your chart. Those are standard tests for a pregnancy, I don't know about all the other stuff! Call OB!! And repost after you talk to the nurse now I'm curious :) I will cross my fingers for you. I think the nurse is right though they know how to read those papers, I'm sure you aren't the only person/patient in those circumstances and your paper work says it all.
5. jus go by a test it should show up answer to all ur problems... n she culd have forgot!hopefully she did.
6. Maybe with all your symptoms she's just pretty positive that you're pregnant so she decided to go ahead and test you for all your prenatal tests at the same time she ran the hcg blood test! That way she could just get them all out of the way all at once. I wouldn't wait until June 21st to find out the results and I'm sure she is going to wait until then either. And maybe you're appointment on June 21st is when you would be 7 weeks or more because they don't like to schedule you too early for your first prenatal appointment! I would say that it sounds to me like you're definitely pregnant and I think the dr thinks so too! Keep us posted! Good luck!
