Blood Drug Testing

Questions about blood tests?

So I'm gonna get a blood test this weekend, and I wanted to know more about it before I actually got it. And I'm going to a doctor I know and love since I've known her since I was just an infant. Anyway are there certain types of blood tests? Here's an example, and I know it's off this is just completely random, that there's a blood test for, say, pregnancy then another for, um, aids? Idk those are the two that pop into my mind. Or do you get a blood test and it's all the same? Also how do you know everything? Like they tell you if you have good nutrition and good blood like do you get a letter a week later or what happens? Just tell me everything you know about a blood test please! Like how does it feel to get one! Thank and please no hate comments, and those examples were random, okay, I'm not pregnant and I don't have aids or anything. Thanks again! :)

  1. Generally they will take multiple tubes of blood. They put the needle in, attach a tube and the tube fills. When it's full, the nurse will switch it for an empty one. Each has a different color lid. I'm not sure what the colors mean but each will be tested for a few different things (i.e. nutrients, sexually transmitted infections, etc.) If nothing is out of the ordinary you probably will not hear anything. The results will go to your doctor. If something's wrong, your doctor will call you within a week or so, depending on how long the specific test takes to process. Like any needle, it pinches a bit but usually it's very brief. When the needle's removed, you'll probably be asked to press a cotton ball on the spot for a moment and will probably get bandaged up just in case it continues to bleed. Super easy.
